In this assignment, I am tasked with exploring my degree plan and outlining the duties and responsibilities a graduate of my degree plan can expect. This paper will also try to help explain the education required to move forward with this career. I will also be looking into and detailing the specific personality traits one would need in this profession, as well as my own personal career goals. Within the course of this paper I am hoping to gain some more knowledge about my future plans and current strategies. One must make sure they have the proper temperament and mental skillset before entering this profession. These skills include being able to understand and process information received both verbally and written, as well as knowing how to use various complex computer systems to store and categorize information. Medical & Health Services Managers, 2016) An administrator must also have good problem solving skills, because in dealing with multiple workers and patients personal and work related issues will crop up. An administrator must also be able to understand all of the healthcare policies set by the state and federal government, and implement them within the facility. In my opinion, one of the most important qualities of a good administrator is a high stress threshold, as well as exceptional time management and organization. When you access the career services after graduation, you are given the ability to search for potential jobs, and there are advisors who will proofread your resume so you know you are putting your best foot forward. (Kaplan University, 2016) Before you graduate, the career services center can help you strategize and plan out your school progression so you have some peace of mind knowing you are not alone in your academic endeavors. The center also provides job leads and interview preparation for when you are ready to join the workplace with your new degree. We all have dreams of our future, and I am no exception. In five years I aspire to be working in a medical office somewhere, gaining the necessary experience I will need to pursue becoming a nursing home administrator. I believe I will look at private practice offices first when applying for a position, and maybe hospitals. I also see myself happy where I work, being able to utilize all of the knowledge I will gain here at Kaplan. I also hope to be working on my master’s degree.
