This is a Bible study that explores various perspectives of who we are in Christ, that is, our identity in Christ Jesus. It may surprise you to learn that many Christians are ignorant of their identity in Christ. If only they knew that satan's strongest weapon against humanity is people's ignorance of the Word. You will find several Bible references used to support almost every statement about our identity in Christ. Knowing who you are in Christ is central to living this life as God intended. The more we agree with His plan for us, the more our behavior will reflect our destiny. He loves and always looks out for us, even when we are not looking. We were all born sinners, as David reminds us: "For I was born a sinner - yes, from the moment my mother conceived me" ((Ps. 51: 5, NLT). Because of our sin nature inherited from Adam, we were the rebellious sons of disobedience until Jesus Christ came. Though God hated and still hates sin, His love for us moved Him to send Jesus, His one and only Son, to bring grace to humanity by His death on the cross (Jn. 3: 16). God loved us, chose us, and sent Christ His Son to die for us, so that we can be united with Him, bound to Him, and be like Him. God's plan for us never ceases to amaze me. God's free gift of salvation is the most important reason to be in Christ's inseparable love, "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate from God's love..." (Rom. 8: 38-39, NLT). In Christ, our sins are forgiven and we are a new creation by faith (Gal. 3: 26). The short prayer you said earlier is your contract with the Lord Jesus Christ. You promised to live your new life trusting Jesus and His Word. To do so requires that you know what His Word says, and to know what His Word says, you have to read it, and as much as you possibly can, memorize it. It is okay to hear it but that may not be enough. That's why it is necessary to reinforce what you hear with reading and memorizing it.
