In a recent column about Sheryl Sandberg, I spelt her first name with a C. I read the piece over a few times before submitting, as I always do, saw nothing amiss, and pressed "send".
I have spent 30 years in journalism, and there I was misspelling a name I had spelt correctly dozens of times before.
Had the mistake not been spotted, the newspaper would have looked ridiculous and I would have seemed sloppy, dim and outrageously unprofessional.
The truth is, I've always had a flair for typos. It is not getting better with experience - nor with spellcheck. My ability to introduce mistakes has kept well ahead of the efforts of Microsoft and Apple to eliminate them.

President Ronald Reagan appointed the first female justice, Sandra Day O’Connor, in 1981; she served for 25 years. Sandra Day O’Connor changed the face of women in politics. Men dominated the Supreme Court yet Sandra Day O’Connor made strides in feminist politics and women's rights by breaking the glass ceiling in the legal profession. She offered an unbiased point of view on many topics including abortion rights, the death penalty, and affirmative action.
The tragedies Ruth Ginsburg experienced throughout her upbringing had a lasting contribution to her life today. In 1933, she was born to Russian-Jewish immigrants amidst the Great Depression. In the hardships of the Great Depression, she lost both her older sister and mother as a child. This time was one of great difficulty for Ginsburg; however, she withstood this adversity and gained invaluable life lessons giving her the opportunity to attain unprecedented levels of success. After coping with her losses, she left to attend Harvard Law School and later Columbia Law School, two world-renowned schools of law. At this period in history, however, both men who dominated this field and who ran the schools discriminated Ginsburg based on her gender (“Ruth Bader Ginsburg”). At one point during the school day, the Dean of Harvard Law approached her and said, “How do you justify taking a spot from a qualified man?” (Galanes). Despite this prejudice, Ginsburg continued to excel in her schooling where she later graduated as top of her class at Columbia (“Ruth Bader Ginsburg”).
The book by Naomi Klein “This Changes Everything” is astonishing as it enlightens the readers about the society and the confrontations of the 21st century and its challenges. The author of the book emphasis’s on the activism in a remarkable way and reports of unlawful activities in the co-operate world (10). The author further elaborates on the issues of misuse of power by co-operate and underworld brought about by the western- style capitalism tied by the government which tries to cap on profitability. Many governments tend to believe that co-operate world tend to prioritize their profits in abnormal way and immerse wealth while protecting their interest.
The Phenomenology of Error is a passage that is written by Joseph M. Williams. He evaluates through the concept that errors of grammar and usage are puzzling. Many believe that we understand the true meaning behind grammar, but we do not. Without a doubt, William repeatedly questioned what defines error and who decides what an error is. Throughout the passage William attempts to describe how the professionals who create rules for grammatical errors tend to break those rules themselves. William elaborates on how the social problems that exist in our society are neglected greatly because we focus on the issues of grammar to a greater extent. In this year of 2015, many people think racism is non existent. The President Barack Obama is black. There are black musicians such as, Beyonce and Jay Z dominating the charts. Some may even say there is no reason for The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Times have changed in many ways however, the presumption that racism ended is completely wrong. The presumption that America is an equal and accepting country is false. In American history, there have been triumphs against inequality. With these triumphs the country has gone into a slumber. The thought of change is the thought of ignorance.
Ruby Nell Bridges played a significant role within the civil rights movement because she led the fight in desegregating schools in the south by being the first black student to attend an all white school there. She was born on September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi. This was the same year that the Supreme Court made its Brown v. Board of Education decision. A College has a large number of learning skills that can be used for success of each student. As an A student, I am familiar with using A’s educational resources. A few of the resources are extremely handy and adaptable in the application that a student needs. One of the resource tools that I have found most beneficial in my learning process is the A Center for Writing Excellence (CWE). The Center for Writing Excellence offers a plagiarism and grammar checker. Here, I can submit my writing materials to have them checked for plagiarism and grammar errors. I also used the grammar guide frequently. I believe that one of my biggest faults in writing is grammatical errors. The Center for Writing Excellence also offers example papers, essay development, tutorials guides and writing manuals. There are also other resources such as, Axcess Course Materials, Course Syllabus, Student Workshops, and Visual and Audio Tutorials. These tools can be found at ecampus for A College.
As I received essay 3 back, I realized I had the same mistakes from all my previous papers. I have a habit of missing words in my sentences. Usually when I write papers, I spend hours typing away at the computer screen. My words run into each other and everything made sense to me. The teacher suggested I read my papers out loud and that’s what I plan to do in the future. I also think time management contributes to this problem. In the future, I plan to manage my time more wisely so I can have time to come back to my essays and revise them. Hopefully my writing mistakes will diminish if I stick to this
