After reading the book, there are many key take away from it. “Time pass and people die. But the principles and values live on” strikes me the deepest. It resonated with what I was taught before that successful leadership is not measured when you are with the people. The success is reflected when your people performs without you physically there but doing what you had educated them and shaped them to be. Below are my reflection for the 3 specific roles: 1. Leaders need to realise that the success of his pack depends very much on the success of his people. With a clear mind and fair judgements, Leaders will steer his packs on the right path to mission success. When challenges or difficulties is encounter, he would brave through the storm with the pack to overcome them. A leader leaves no man behind. As without followers, there’s no leader. 2. The Teacher Being a teacher, one groom and cultivates the students to develop on the right path as well as imparting the correct knowledge to them. The teacher being a role model himself, he brings the right values and impart the right principles to the students. However, teacher must know that one will not knows everything by being in that position. We have to be humble to learn from the students as well and being humble enough to accept the mistakes that are pointed out to us. That will makes us a better teacher not to mention further enhancing our own knowledge as well. Together with the students, we should have the same understandings that there are always new things to learn. Everybody has their unique strength regardless of one’s age. Be always ready to learn from everybody. A leader does not equates to knowing everything. Rather than, he make use of the team strength and capabilities to move on together. Learning to trust is a crucial factor for me to be part of a team. With trust, then I am able to empower my teammates to create capacities and enhance team efficiencies. Conclusion Before acknowledging myself as a leader or teacher, I must self-manage myself with the right attitudes & mental model. I must function individually as a follower as well as team members for a start. Switching to the leader role, I must be ready to be a role model to steer them to the correct direction. Fighting the wars together with the people and always be ready to bring out the best results of the team through everybody’s capability. Be ready to acknowledge the people’s capabilities & success. Team success will outweigh my individual success. Lastly, develop the people to their best potential and providing them the right avenues to gain more knowledge. The growth of the individuals in the team is a veto factor to the key success to the team
