Hi, im Rowen Haist, I am very excited to join your class and boulder universal and I hope i will have a fun time transitioning into online school. My plan for being successful this semester is to keep track of my due dates so i don't fall behind like i previously have but i am confident that i will make a skedual that will fit my time
For students, specifically myself, procrastination happens more that I would like to admit, being able to manage my time and work homework and projects into my schedule is crucial to maintaining my grades. Freshman Seminar expressed this importance through two items, the first being the ‘4 Year Course Plan’ assignment and the second being due dates on the assignments themselves. The ‘4 Year Course Plan’ allowed for me to assess my current standing at Capitol Technology University and plan out my future. With my next four years planned out I am able to see what I need to get done and determine how my next four years may play out. While the due dates for the assignments allowed for me to get a healthy and average level of stress due to course load. This stress level motivated me to get my work done on time and effectively as I needed to ensure time for other class work and
Individuals’ perceptions of their life/worth have the power to control the goals that they can carry out and meet. Every day we are learning new things and everyone has his/her own unique ways of learning. My strong desire to help students with their academic, personal, and social needs make me a strong candidate as a school counselor. While completing my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Program Administration I learned a great deal about myself. I have a passion for learning and want to share and express that love for learning with students. I feel that the Master of School Counseling program provides a direct path to my career goals of helping students to comprehend subject matter while learning to love learning as I do. Not only will
I have the tendency to procrastinate working on assignments and increasing pressure on myself by working on a big project last minute. I struggled with this downfall throughout high school, and since I have more difficult classwork now, I want to change this devastating problem. I plan to battle this struggle by using my planner to keep track of assignment, project, and test dates. I will be continuously looking at my planner throughout the day to update it, so I will be reminded of due dates. In turn, I hope this helps me start assignments sooner so I can spread my workload over multiple days and have extra time to check my
This semester could have gone better, my time management efforts would have greatly benefited my grades if I had improved them more early on. I found myself still struggling with old habits and staying up late to finish assignments that could have been done already if I had just planned ahead. This work did not fair as well grade wise as assignments that I took time to write and send to either Arlene or meet with the writing support center to go over. In the same time management regard I feel as though I could have prepared better for smaller quizzes, as that was a major downfall of mine in Theory. Multiple times with very easy assignments and quizzes I would neglect to do them in a timely manner or I would not take the quiz grade as seriously and not prepare accordingly. I will use the time management and planning strategies Arlene helped me develop to improve these areas and take advantage of easy to earn
I have been interested in science for as long as I can remember. When I was in pre-school I would watch television shows like "The Magic School Bus" where every episode talked about a new topic such as anatomy or astronomy and the characters within the show learned more about the problems taking place alongside the viewer. While I watched these shows I wanted to be like those kids in The Magic School Bus who got to experience the different events which occurred both in the macro and micro world around them. Unfortunately the technology to shrink down to the size of a red blood cell and learn about the heart and blood flow first hand doesn’t exist yet. However, through my science classes I can learn about things like this in a similarly interesting
Admission to Ryerson School of Interior Design has been a vision for me since before high school. Capturing what you are passionate about in life and what fulfills you both personally and professionally has always been my goal. Throughout my young life, I have been fascinated by visual stimulus, from architectural structures, museums, home décor shows/blogs/magazines/stores, I knew that I wanted to contribute to this industry. In planning the next step from high school, I applied to Universities that seemed to fit what I was supposed to do, and an amazing opportunity came my way to live in Paris for a year, go to school and work as an International model. Now, I am ready to execute the next step and follow what I know I want and what I will
A good way to stay on track with your goals in college is to advance your time management skills. Sit down and list your priorities each day and pick your time carefully. Time is a valuable resource and can be used to your advantage or wasted. Be flexible and expect the unexpected because things just happen. Often in college, hectic class schedules and making time for other things than school can be challenging. Now day’s students have outstanding resources to help keep them organized like smartphones, electronic calendars and planners, cloud and
On that fateful day as I stood in my black and pink salmon graduation gown, I pondered on the skills I was equipped with in just 11 months of master 's study and I yearned for more. While these skills have enabled me to function as a research fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) post-graduation, I find myself seeking to enhance them and gain more knowledge. My attendance at professional conferences, registration in short courses, and seeking mentorship can attest to this fact. Thus, in my quest for continued academic and professional excellence, I deem it necessary to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in epidemiology and the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH) will be the perfect academic environment in which to do so. Being my alma mater, I witnessed first-hand the quality education offered by the outstanding faculty. The opportunity to work hand in hand with renowned researchers who have made tremendous contributions to various research studies and the prospect of establishing a mentoring relationship with them is held in high regard. Also, the effort at promoting innovative research, cross-cultural diversity, and great alumni networks, are undeniable perks obtainable at JHSPH. No wonder JHSPH is ranked the best academic institution in the public health field nationwide!
In the process of creating my vision board in the beginning of the semester, I kept my goals in life as well as the semester’s in sight. This semester was an important clean slate for me, because I struggled with my grades at the beginning. I really wanted to lay out what were the main goals and expectations for not only schoolwork but in all aspects of my school involvement. Most of the aspirations and goals on my vision board were well thought out and ideas I intended to accomplish. Although all of the shown goals were not met, I am extremely content with how a majority of them turned out.
Ever since I have used a computer, I have been captivated by the incredible world of the digital industry. One of the earliest memories I have was to use a floppy disk, the idea of capturing something virtual and integrating it into a physical object fascinated me. As technology has advanced so has its implements, I recall the floppy disk being as big as my hand and to now hold a memory stick smaller than my thumb with 91022.2 times more storage capacity just astonishes me. The advancement of computers at this exponential rate makes me wonder what amazing phenomena could occur in the next century and by studying computer science I can be part of this exponential growth.
It’s an area I need a great deal of improvement on. As for the deadlines of homework, I wasn’t very organized in high school and due to that I continuously mixed up dates and deadlines and very rarely turned in things on time. With more leniency, I could pass with that in high school, however, at UWM that is not an option. Although they are concerns of mine, I will do my absolute best to address and fix these issues. I hope that I can prepare myself better for my future by bettering my work ethic and self-discipline. My goal is to not miss any assignments throughout the whole year. I am confident I can achieve this with a strong
For this semester, I have set three goals that I will be working towards to make improvements on. The first goal I set is to start an assignment the day that it is assigned so that I do not procrastinate. The second goal I have set for this semester is to be more organized with my materials. The last goal for this semester is to relieve my stress in a positive way. By working on these goals during the next couple of weeks, it will make my life a little less stressful.
I would often have trouble remembering if we had homework or when it was due. Every year since I can remember, the students have been given a daily planner. In elementary school, I looked at it more as homework because we had to have our parents sign it. In junior high, I used my planner quite a bit, and it helped a lot. For some reason, once I got to high school, I stopped caring about being organized and my motivation dropped the second I walked through those doors. Even as a freshman, I found it hard to concentrate in certain classes because I did not want to be there. I got my first C my freshman year to ruin any chance of a 4.0 GPA. My sophomore year, I missed a lot of school due to an ACL, injury and it was hard to come back and catch up on all my work. On the bright side, sophomore year 's homework wasn 't as vigorous as senior year. I have found myself not caring too much about my grades this year and missing more school than I ever could have imagined. Although I have faced these struggles, I made better use of my planner when I did miss school. I only used my planner for my senior English class, because it was the class with the most work. Each week, we would take a day to write down our weekly schedule, so even when I missed two weeks of school, I knew what work I missed the day I got back. Of course, with my lack of motivation, the work didn 't always get
After doing all the assignment and using all the useful resources you gave us I have fully created my future education plan. Before taking this class I was not so sure about my future plans and still had questions about what I wanted to do in the future. My plans for the future were influenced by many things I learned throughout my time in the class. My plans for the future is going to University of North Carolina at Greensboro and double major in computer science and graphic design or engineering. There are many ways to achieve my future plan I have to utilize the tools and resources I been given throughout the class. While I was completing my first assignment, there was a link that took me to a section at collegeboard.com. The link had questions that helped me discover what I want to in the future. There were ten questions that asked about your talents, things that challenges, and who you look up to. My week two assignment was to take the interest profiler and after taking the test it showed me that I am interested in computer related careers. The careers that showed up after the interest profiler were interesting because it showed careers from different degrees like personal trainers, marketing. After finishing the assignment, I used the results of the interest profiler and the careers they gave me as a suggestion for help in college search for my degree. While looking for the right college for me, I was completing week two assignment that had me researching and exploring the career I wanted to be in and what are the top ten hottest job right now. Out of all the assignment I did this was the most interesting because it showed me jobs I never heard of but were really interesting to me. Like withe a computer science degree you ca...
Although it is not the end of the academic semester, I have accomplished my academic goals with the exception of one class. Math has always been a challenge for me, and I believe that I will end up receiving a B in the class. My goal was a 4.0 GPA my first semester, but instead I will postpone that goal for next semester. My personal goals have been met because I succeeded well in my first semester in college, and still love the UofA and education in general.
