During the half semester course of Freshman Seminar, a multitude of topics were covered, providing students with a foundation for starting and completing college successfully. These topics include time management/productivity, understanding learning styles, how to join/start college activities, planning for your academic future, and career preparation, All of which serve to guide students towards academic success. However, not all of these topics are as helpful and important as others. Being able to determine their personal helpfulness and importance is key to a student’s success in college. For students, specifically myself, procrastination happens more that I would like to admit, being able to manage my time and work homework and projects into my schedule is crucial to maintaining my grades. Freshman Seminar expressed this importance through two items, the first being the ‘4 Year Course Plan’ assignment and the second being due dates on the assignments themselves. The ‘4 Year Course Plan’ allowed for me to assess my current standing at Capitol Technology University and plan out my future. With my next four years planned out I am able to see what I need to get done and determine how my next four years may play out. While the due dates for the assignments allowed for me to get a healthy and average level of stress due to course load. The topics covered strengthened my understanding and have shown me what I need to have a successful future past college. My attitude towards class work over anything else I attribute to the time management and learning styles portion of the course. While my success for the future I will attribute to the career preparation and past experiences outside of Capitol Technology University. These combined will provide me with the best tools for academic success and future
