Operation management refers to the complex set of management activities involved in planning, organizing, controlling and supervising the operation of a company so as to make the necessary improvement for higher profitability (Stoner, Freeman & Gilbert, 1996). In other words, operation management is the business function that involves systematic design, direction and control of processes that transform input into product and services for internal and customer for external. Thus, operation management is very important for the manager as it not only helps to increase the productivity of an organization improving the financial health but also helps to meet the competitive priorities of the customers.

Process: The processes involved in the hotel are selection of suitable location which reaches to the maximum customers, then deciding the kinds of facilities that the hotel will be willing to provide like swimming pool, restaurant, kinds of rooms like suits, normal room, spa, and so on. Tourism is the key component that drives the growth in revenue for Cuba apart from the Tobacco and Sugar Cane industry. Meaning more jobs will become available within the next few years. This means more opportunities for the Travel and Tourism industry in Cuba to expand. As a hotel chain, adapting to the island’s standards is a must. A lot of hotels on the island, have their unique characteristics that may or may not influence people’s choices in staying in your hotel. This impacts the recommendations because people are likely to stay at a hotel that offers the amenities of an authentic Cuban hotel.

People who want to have a successful organization in business world; first they should be able to define OB which helps the organizations to be more effectively. “Organizational behavior is a study and an application of knowledge about how people, individuals and groups act in organizations” (Clark, 2000). Frankly, OB can help to indentify people behavior and to have a work relationship among the worker. Moreover, it can affect an organization to enhance its profitability and innovation by showing organization resources which can depends on customers. As well, it helps to achieve a job satisfaction by understanding the importance elements of motivation, communication and leadership.
Organizational roles and structures are important for hotels and lodges to function efficiently. “The purpose of these structures is to coordinate, communicate, and control individual actions to support the strategy, and to facilitate workflow, permit management control, and create doable jobs” (Enz, 2010). There are many dimensions of organizational structures from hierarchy of authority, degree of centralization, complexity, specialization, formalization and professionalism that needs to be decided upon of being necessary for organizations to operate at best performance. Basic-level structures include functional, project matrix and geographic/customer levels.
Before enrolling in the operations management course this fall, my first impression of operations management was that this style of management deals with the processes and ideas managers use to help solve work issues. These work issues could range from measuring customer satisfaction to organizing a work room layout that would be most beneficial to the workers at a specific time. After further research on operations management, I was able to conclude that operations management entails much more than I had originally thought. Operations management is formally defined by William J. Stevenson’s (2012) as “the management if systems or processes that create goods and/or provide services” in an earlier edition of Operations Management (p. 4).

Hotel industry not only plays an important role in the life of people but as well as the economy of the country. Development and advancement in the Hotel industry have rapidly been taking place and especially since the rapid change in technology, it is very important for hotels to be promptly keeping up to date. When the hotel industry is spoken of, there are many famous hotels but one hotel company that has been outstanding in growth and other aspects of business, like in Leadership, Teamwork (Employee turnover), Motivation (Customer retention and satisfaction, Goals and objectives, (changing the way hotel business has worked), and Change within the company; structurally inside and physically outside, adding elements, like entertainment, gaming, and outdoor activities, is the Hilton Hotel Company.
Operations management is not confined to only one industry, nor permitted to manufacturing companies. All organizations in the public and private sectors, such as hospitals, hotels, airlines, and insurance companies, need to manage their operations more carefully.
