Advertisements all serve the same purpose of promoting and selling products and services that strive to help people, specifically women, to achieve a slimmer toned body, bigger breasts, and a face that is accepted by society. Advertisements that contain beauty related images, sometimes portray negative effects on a women’s view of her own body image and her perceived idea of how she should actually look (Heyes 2007). This paper will analyze several advertisement ads, their denotative and connotative meanings, where cultural and social context play a role in how advertisements are produced and read. This paper will argue how the effects of advertisements on body image and size results in dangerous and extreme options such as cosmetic surgery, diet pills and slimming creams, and lastly, bulimia and anorexia. A person eats to gain energy from food that allows our body to perform various functions that allows us to survive. The food that people take in will go through their digestive system that then allows them to harness the energy within food. That energy that is taken from the food is then sent, via the bloodstream, to all of the living cells. These cells then use this energy to perform their daily functions and tasks. We also eat food to help rebuild and repair damaged and old cells.
The 3day’s food analysis provide me with the necessary information, to where about I was getting my energy, vitamins and mineral. It’s also shows whether or not if I was meeting all my nutrient need. Unfortunately, this unusually 3days food analysis did not meet my usual eating habits. The 3days food analysis revealed, that I didn’t meet, my nutritional need in many areas. I think overall my energy intake was less than my output. I am not surprise or dissatisfies, because it’s not like I was trying to lose or gain weight.
Many "diets" are profit-based, meaning if all their customers really lost and kept weight off, they wouldn 't make as much money. "Fad diets" come and go and while somebody is getting rich off of them, most people aren 't really succeeding on them.
This turns into a cycle of weight loss and gain, which can increase “the risk of degenerative diseases such as obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and cancer” (Vaghefi par. 7). These diseases come into the picture due to the cycle. Fad diets promote weight loss, but not fat loss. When the goal weight is attained, and the diet stops, weight is put back on, which leads to more fat being put into the body than taken out and faster weight gain. When losing weight, the biggest way to avoid developing these major health issues is to “not believe or follow any of the fad diets that promise easy and quick weight loss, because there is no such thing” (Vaghefi par. 8).
