Importance Of Work Experience

The human body is something I find extremely fascinating and have been interested in since a very young age. Success in my college studies and extra work in the Hospital and clinical placements has given me a deep academic grounding in which to approach a degree in medicine with confidence and enthusiasm.
I have had a range of work experience which was both enjoyable and insightful. Completing valuable work experience at the local hospital enabled me to experience first hand the team work, empathy and dedication needed to become a doctor which in turn secured my decision on my future plans. In addition to this I also secured work experience at a local GP’s surgery. From this I learnt about how everyone plays a part in the treatment of every patient and how your job has a direct impact on someone else’s. Work experience in both of these clinical settings provided me with an amazing insight into how multi-disciplinary teams work, communication is key to working together effectively and to keep the patients heath a priority. This is shown when I helped set up and run a netball club at a local primary school. At the club I had to interact with many different people of different ages and backgrounds to ensure the service was the best it could be. I also do other volunteering acts within the community which allowed me to give something back. I helped out at a local dance school I attend. Within this role I had to use my initiative to overcome any problems that may arise as well as having empathy with the children to ensure they understand me and understand what I expect of them. On top of this I was asked to give one to one lessons to a student who was struggling. This gave me extra responsibility as I had a direct impact on the grade this student would get entering their
