My last seven and a half months have consisted carrying out the work placement element of my college curriculum in Fexco offices in Killorglin. I was placed into the Finance department to coincide with my degree major of accounting and finance where I undertook a various amount of relevant tasks and projects. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in Fexco and I gained a vast understanding of how the company is run and organized. I felt as though every day was a learning experience and a chance to develop a further understanding of what the working world consists of. I was allowed to experience different roles within the finance department in an attempt for me to discover which one I enjoyed to most. Prior to my work experience I was very unsure …show more content…
Without this experience I would be extremely confused as to which career path suits me best. Having a name like Fexco down on my C.V. will stand to me in the future because it is such a big internationally recognized company with an excellent reputation and I can see why this is the case. I think what made my work placement all the more enjoyable was the people I got the work with. They made me feel a real part of the team and were also very willing to assist me when I required it. I am extremely grateful to all the staff at Fexco for making my experience with them a pleasure. Fexco is financial and business solutions provider that operates on a global scale. Set up in 1981 by Brian McCarthy, its original function was to provide a bureau de change Service to an Irish market. Fexco employs more than 2000 people globally and this figure is always increasing. Its main office of its global activities is located in killorglin, Co. Due to this organization focus on its locality Killorglin has grown a lot in recent
The Value of Work Experience A summer or part-time job pays more than money. Even though the money earned is important, the work experience gained has a greater long-term value when one applies for a full-time job after graduation from school. Job application documents (the application blank and the personal data sheet) ask you to list jobs you have held and to list as references the names of individuals who supervised your work. Graduating college with my associates in Occupational healthcare, I had majored in Medical Assistant. I had just completed 16 months in an accelerated program. The next step was to land a job. So I perfected my resume and I applied to everywhere that was accepting applications. One day a friend informed me about an opening she saw online that an OB/GYN office for a front desk position so I decided that I will apply for the job just to gain some experience in the healthcare field. Everything went well with the application process and the job was mine. I started working on the first day without any training but I had basic knowledge of the Electronic medical record they were using. Walking into the office as excited as anyone can be, I’m ready. One worker said to me “Trust me you
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
During the tutor orientation, Sister Margarita explained the schedule we had to follow while with the students. Every classroom had activity boxes that pertained to the grade level we were tutoring in that included things that were being taught at school. In the first grade room, the boxes had items like flashcards (adding, subtracting, ABCs, etc.), a small analog clock to practice time, 4 of the same picture books, and more. After arriving, I would grab some pencils and a couple blank sheets of paper from the tutor bin. I would then make up some type of writing exercise to practice vocabulary, writing proper sentences, or answering questions after reading a short paragraph (given
A couple of years ago I left a job that had shown a lot of promise but was actually a dead-end. I was gutted. It had seemed a perfect fit on paper for the mix of skills I possessed however, that had not been the case. In fact it turned out that the organization was not clear on the role they wanted me to perform. In the weeks that followed I was forced to reflect on my career and where I wanted to take it. My ego was bruised and I was left doubting my abilities.
I am older but there are many things I may consider such as becoming a
Finally Looking back since I returned to school maintaining a 3.8 GPA, I felt that my first semester in the accounting program has been difficult and grades have been hard to attain, but I realized that my work experience has been helpful as it allows me to return to school with organizational skills and the intense desire not to give up despite the difficulties and perform well as I continue the journey to my degree. I hope that I can get practical experience in the field though part time internships and volunteer as well.
In this essay, I want to reflect on my abilities that I am proud of, my weaknesses I need to improve and my strengths I have uncovered during my studies. As a second year student of the University of Salford, where I came after the Access to business and legal professions course at Blackburn College knowing I want to be a manager, I have realised that I am able to benefit not only from the new things I learned in the class, but also I have refreshed my memory on a variety of things I already been taught during my studies in Slovakia. Throughout my studies at university, I have learned more than the important things about business, economics or motivation, but also I learned how to be me, what I want to do in the future and furthermore, I am constantly developing my other skills, such as academic writing and communication skills.
The school participated in the Young Enterprise scheme, sponsored by major UK companies. The scheme entails setting up a business organisation with a board of directors comprising of members from various schools. As financial director of Avanti, which manufactured and sold celebratory cards, I was responsible for the company's financial health. The company made a considerable profit (67% net), leading to second position in the local competition. This experience gave me the opportunity to develop my organisational and communication skills. I was also an active member of the 6th form council with responsibility for ordering and monitoring stock for the vending machine.
When I was first assigned Ms. Clark’s 6th grade Language Arts class, I had mixed feelings on my field placement. During my first two years here at Manchester University, I have spent my field experience in the history department at the high school level. Also, I have spent countless hours studying my content area to be prepared for my future profession. I was scared of venturing out of my comfort zone and into an area I lack knowledge. However, as I have learned, all growth occurs outside of your comfort zone. Over the course of this semester, I have worked with Ms. Clark in her high ability class to help prepare myself to reach all learners in my classroom. Recently, I conducted an interview with her in order to better understand my future
The quarter has finally come to an end, and with that, I close out my internship and this class that went along with it. It was a great experience and I leave equipped with a new set of skills that are preparing me for the world ahead. As I write this reflection paper, I think back to the very first week when I set up two goals for myself to focus on and hope to achieve throughout the following weeks. My first goal was to develop a better understanding of myself within the work place, and my second was to develop a strong network to jumpstart my career. Both of my goals were achieved, however, I don’t feel that either of my goals will ever be complete. I believe that you can always formulate a better understanding of yourself, and you can always network to develop a stronger tree of connections. I know for a fact, however, that I reached satisfaction with both of my goals at this internship at MKI and know whole-heartedly that I did everything in my power to exhaust my resources in

In early 2012, I received the role of a lead developer for a project, which aimed to bring new billing and invoicing framework for Wipro Technologies. It was a daunting and rigorous task for me to understand and implement a whole new f...
