While some people argue that abortion is a right and should remain legal, I believe that there are too many flaws with their claims to protect abortion for it to be preserved. Pro-life groups, or those who promote the legal protection of unborn children, support their views by laying a foundation that explicitly highlights the deliberate killing of a life. Abortion desensitizes society to a quiet form of violence, often calling the pro-choice movement a silent holocaust. These fetuses cannot speak for themselves, cannot shout for help when being surgically removed from the world as they know it. Women who have abortions tend to develop issues ranging from those that deal with emotional, psychological, physical, and mental damage.
She then reconstructs the initial argument to state that it is morally impermissible to abort a fetus if it has the right to life and has the right to the mother?s body. The fetus has the right to life but only has the right to a ... ... middle of paper ... ...ould assure the survival of twin A. I feel that Thomson?s argument was easily refuted although it was very imaginative and clever. It doesn?t seem that her idea of abortion only being wrong in the case of voluntary pregnancy will hold water too long. In my personal opinion I feel that abortion is generally wrong. I think that if the woman became pregnant through consensual sex, even if she did not want to have a child, abortion is wrong regardless of the contraceptive precautions that were exercised.
Because of this, each side can always say that the foetus is or isn't alive and that you are or aren't killing a baby through abortion. Pro-choice campaigners also say that doctors have no better right than the mothers to deem whether and abortion is necessary. Additionally, they say that if abortions were made illegal, thousands of women would risk their lives in dirty back... ... middle of paper ... ... they are physically or mentally handicapped- they can come to terms with it- why can't we? I have noticed that all the arguments against abortion are impersonal and are based on the idea that life doesn't start until birth, but with medical advances a baby born as early as 24 weeks can survive in the world. So since birth is so unpredictable, that cannot be seen as the start of life.
It’s hard to answer those questions, if woman knowing that doing sex might be pregnant, and get pregnant, its woman’s responsibility, so that abortion is not permissible. According to this point of view, abortion is only allowed in case of woman got raped and pregnant or not voluntarily been using body, the concerted woman have not responsible for abortion. I believe that abortion is permissible from human moral side to lead to reduce the overall sadness for most of the people if in the cases above.
Pro-Choice People declare that a woman has the right to decide if she wants to have the baby or not. Additionally, supporters point out also that abortions, would take place even if the procedure was made illegal and that criminalization of it would lead to unsafe abortion practices, particularly among the poor. Pro-Life People see abortion as murder and a violation of the fetus 's right to live. Some people believe that accepting abortion will lead to the disregard for human life in general. Many advocates believe that the acceptance of abortion encourages sexual immorality. (Americana,
The other side of the argument is that right when the mother is pregnant, it is wrong for the mother to abort because the embryo has a right to life as soon as the mother is pregnant. This is a primary concern for anti-abortion supporters. Mary Warren takes this pro-life stance to defend the life of the fetus by not allowing abortions under any circumstance in her case, “On the Moral and legal status of Abortion”, 1973. Warren argues whether abortion is morally permissible at any stage of pregnancy and under any circumstances. Warren’s argument for her stance on abortion is stated as 1) It is wrong to kill human beings.
Whether it is mentally or physically. Although I believe abortion is a terrible thing and should be illegal, many people believe that if you think about it, scientifically abortion isn’t wrong. Scientists say that “The unborn is an embryo or a fetus that is just a simple blob of tissue” (Alcorn). Science takes a major part in abortion. The fetus inside the woman's body may be alive, but we can’t tell whether or not it will become a potential human (Alcorn).
On the other hand, some feel that fetuses have no advocates and deserve a right to live, so it is immoral to abandon their rights and kill them. This issue is not only at the center of political debate, but philosophical debate as well. In this paper, I will examine and critique Mary Anne Warren's On the Moral and Legal Status of Abortion, where she examines the moral humanity of the fetus and its right to life. Mary Anne Warren describes how abortion should be kept legal without any restrictions on it. She states that the pro-abortion argument should center around the moral status of the baby, not simply on the rights of the mother.
Since our lives end when our brain stops, should life not begin when the brain starts? People do not understand that pro-choice is not "pro-abortion". Obviously, it is an extremely tough decision to make, and no one who is pro-choice thinks abortion is all smiles and rainbows. But they also do realize that legal or not legal, there have always been pregnancies wanting to be terminated and a high demand for abortion, and when abortion is illegal it does not stop happening, it just becomes a lot more unsafe and sometimes deadly. Being pro-choice means wanting to keep abortion rare, legal and
A woman should have the right to choose if she wants to have an abortion. Your viewpoint does not acknowledge a woman's right to freedom of choice. I agree with your opinion, that the fetus is a human and that it has a right to life and that is why I believe in early abortions. I feel that your viewpoint would cause many problems. One problem is that your viewpoint allows no abortions, that allows no consideration for the mother of the family that would be effected by that child.
