Ideally, narrow minded people are not bad but are just have a tendency of limited way in thinking and handling other people. In reality, narrow minded is not a permanent condition but just a situation that can be dispelled through gearing your activities towards a self-analysis so as to accentuate your circumstance, and start coming with ways that improves the sense of thought.
George behaviour of being narrow minded in dealing with the people will adversely affect his capacity of becoming an effective counselor as his mind will be geared towards making assumptions at the back of his mind without real justifications (Tate & Caperton, 2014). This is developed by being honest and candid with the client so as to win the heart of the client. Secondly, George should emulate the good recording keeping helping him observe high confidentiality and demonstrate this by jotting down notes when conversing with the client (Kwong, 2014). This gives him to conduct an effective counseling exercise where both end making an effective decision, take control of the exercise, and stick to the schedule. Additionally, George can improve his therapist skills by identifying the negative trends and thoughts of the client and replacing them with positive ones. This adjudicates coming up with goals and creating requisite action plan with client. George needs to motivate, offer positive response, and pose a challenge to the client especially when solving painful memories. Above all, George should use his voice to calm down the client and in the long run acquit himself with high nobility and knights in counseling. In conclusion, it’s evident from above that, for one to be an effective counselor he/she needs to show some traits that go hand in hand with professionalism and devoid of the following traits egocentric, defensive and opinionated. Counseling demands that one has to be posses the skills of communication, effective coordination, and depicts a sense of humor.
