The Road to Mental Well-Being Life is not an easy journey. It takes a balance of both physical and mental well-being to be able to enjoy all that life has to offer. Though physical well-being is addressed thoroughly, mental well-being is often left with little attention and awareness. The stresses and obstacles in today’s society have created a mental health epidemic. This epidemic leads to depression, anxiety, and anger. Everyone becomes sad every now and then. There is nothing wrong with being disappointed when things don’t go the way you’d like them to. Even so, it is important to remember that nothing lasts and that any obstacle will soon come to pass. Besides sadness and depression, anger also needs control. We must learn to become patient and forgiving in order to get rid of the anger that boils inside of us. To control your emotions, try going for a walk or visiting a friend; anything that clears your mind. Self-acceptance is not only difficult, but can also take a long time to develop. It is important to accept our physical and “soul” selves. All humans were made beautiful. No person is like another, which makes us unique and individual. It is our job to accept who we are, especially the characteristics of us that can’t be changed, such as features we were born with. Further, we must come to accept our “soul” selves as well. No one can tell you that you aren’t good enough and you should never change who you are for someone else. What you will find is that, in the end, you hid so much of yourself for another person’s pleasure that you forgot who you really were.
