My Journey to College Growing up, everybody gets to learn that the real world is not a fantasy that’s easy to cope with. While I was growing up I believe that life was really easy; not until I reached 12th grade. That’s where I got to learn how to be independent, and work hard to earn my things. 2015 was the year where I got a little taste of the real world. Growing up was a blur, and I barely remember everything from my childhood, so I shall tell my reader the important facts, challenges, and rewards I have faced in my life. When I was in high school I had a problem, which was being shy. Being shy made me seem as if I was anti-social, and caused me to have no friends, but my shyness was decreasing each year of high school because I talked more, and by the time I reached 12th grade I had many friends, who are very close to me till this day. While being in high school, I was always focused on my studies. People believed that I was a genius in high school, but I really wasn’t, I was just focus on the lessons, and understood what the teacher taught us. As I reached eleventh grade, I was chosen to be a part of the National Honor Society; I thought that I was never going to be part of the National Honors Society. I was at the hospital when my friends told me the good news—that I was selected to be part of the National Honors Society. As I reached 12th grade I learned that working while going to school is a bad idea if you can’t multitask right. When I was working I didn’t realized that I wasn’t multitasking right; I wasn’t putting enough effort into my studies, and having a job was distracting me, so I decide to quit my job, and continue my education by going to college. When you’re in college you’re basically independent, nobody is there to hold your hand, and tell you everything is okay. It’s mostly being independent without your parents to backing you up, also you’re forced to join a whole new environment, and meet new people. College is not what I expected. Well I was expecting to go to a four year university, and dorm, meet new people, befriend my roommate, go to college football games, and have a great college experience, but since I didn’t have enough money to go to a university I decided to start in a community college, and work my way up. Going to Middlesex feels like high school again, but with a dash of independence, and many gaps in your schedule. That’s the only reason I like about Middlesex, but it still feels like you’re in high school.
