Writing is a large aspect of almost every professional job, especially jobs in the health care. When I first began the course of Reading, Writing and Research I was surprised by how important writing was in the field of radiation therapy. Before I started this class I never thought about how radiation therapy had its own journals and how important writing was to the profession. However soon after this class started I realized just how important developing good writing skills are to becoming a radiation therapist. Also, when we first started learning about writing specifically for radiation therapy I realized I had a lot to learn. Early in the semester I did not have good revising techniques, but now I feel like I am much better at not only fixing grammatical mistakes, but I am also better at fixing larger mistakes like the flow of the paper. I now have a system of reading my paper over multiple time with each time looking for different types of mistakes. I no longer just look for grammatical mistakes and think that is all the revising my paper needs. My ability to write technically has also improved due to this course. This class has taught me how to shape my context, structure, tone, style and purpose of my paper towards a specific audience. I believe that if you look at my paper from the beginning of the semester and compare it to the paper from the second paper you will see evidence of my improvements. I think my second paper flows much better due to my revision process and it also has much less grammatical mistakes. I also believe you will see that my second paper was directed at a very specific audience of the RT
