Ever since I started talking this class, English 1301, with Dr. Piercy, I have been able to expand my writing and thinking skills. Not only was I able to make more better essays but I also learned important topics such as how education creates an impact in the world. In this essay I will be talking about three writings and how they are related to this course semester. The three writings are “On Bullshit” by Harry Frankfurt, “Why I Write Bad” by Milo Beckman,and “Statement of Teaching Philosophy” by Stephen Booth. Every class should have something new, we always learn something everyday . Mostly all of my essays were about education and how it makes an impact in the world. My professor would always provide us with readings but there was one that really caught my attention “... I am in a position where I can make them see how and how wonderful it is that Hamlet, or Gulliver’s Travels, or Paradise Lost, or “Kubla Khan,” or Pride and Prejudice enable their audiences to cope with inconvenient truths” (Booth) it was an article from The Atlantic regarding with the rapid growth of school education the reform had caused in Finland. My essays would be about if an educational reform like Finland’s would work in the U.S. why or why not? How each article or essay talks about this situation, their appeals (Ethos, Pathos, and Logos), etc. How does education link with crime?
