Recommended: Leadership styles strengths and weaknesses in nursing

Upon completion of the 16 Personalities personality assessment my results revealed to me that my personality type is “Executive Personality (ESTJ, -A/ -T) (Neris Analytics Limited, 2017)”. ESTJ, -A/ -T stands for Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging. Executive type personalities are those individuals that use tradition and order throughout all of what they do. The values of honesty, dedication and dignity are very important for individuals with this personality type. Executives usually counsel or advise other people. They are deeply imbedded in their communities and families. I would agree with the Myers-Briggs personality assessment regarding these results.

This is because a transformational leader is a leader that “involves both the leader and the team members (Murray, 2017, p. 49)”. Transformational leaders aid in the transformation of their organizations. In comparing the executive personality type and a transformational leader I believe they work hand in hand. An executive personality would be one of the best personality types to help aid in “motivate each other to attain and achieve levels of success (Murray, 2017, p. 49)”. A transformational leader is an individual that learns from failures while an executive learns from past experiences. This both correlate for the betterment of moving forward in a way of learning from past lessons.
An article, “Leadership styles and theories” written in the Nursing Standard Journal states, “Transformational leaders express a clear, compelling vision of the future (Giltinane, 2013).” I believe this coincides with the personality of an executive because executives enjoy creating order and are excellent organizers.
