Personal Leadership Development Plan A.) As a leader I think there are many traits and skills I am particularly strong in, and others that I would be wise to develop. In terms of traits, I think I am determined and I’m am pretty sociable. As for determination, I know that I have the ability to get things done. I am both persistent and resilient in projects that mean the most to me. For example, when my boss gives me a task, I am firm in accomplishing it. I take pride in knowing I can get things done in a timely manner. For sociability, I think I really do seek out to keep and maintain positive social interactions and relationships with my team and those working around me. For example, as a student leader, I have maintained friendships with students I worked with last year and I continue to do the same this year. That being said, I think that would apply to having good human skills and having the ability to maintain and grow relationships. There are many things I need to work on though, assertiveness is something I should probably be more in tune to. I find that often when I am leading meetings at my job, things tend to get off track and instead of trying to correct the course of action and move on—I let things go. If I would have taken control of the meeting in a positive way, by either acknowledging that it had gotten out of hand, or simply pressing on—the meeting would have been more successful, and in turn I think the year would have been a lot more successful and there would have been a lot less trouble. Of course the meeting was a first impression of how the year was going to unfold; clearly that meeting turning out so poorly was not the best note to start out on.
