Motivation can be defined as the reason for one's actions, desires, and needs. It can also be one's direction to behavior for success. It can be applied to coaching a professional team in the workplace. Coaching is a way to motivate the players by being reasonable, having confidence in the players and, having a determination to succeed. First of all, being a coach is not easy. One must have a balance of being motivated and remaining confident in their efforts. The coach is also responsible for teaching the players the rules of the games. The coach has to carefully monitor each individual student athlete progress to ensure academic eligibility. Coaches must promote good sportsmanship and foster good character in their athletes. Every sport allows managers to make comprised with players. People can learned to be accountable for their actions by making their own decisions. People can take what one learned in playing sports and can apply it to real life situations. Coaches can only control what is in their power. They cannot predict the future and prevent an injury from happening. They could not predict which players are going to shine in the game. It helps coaches make reasonable decision and have a clear goal in mind. I also learned that be fair will get through to people and will give them proper encouragement that they need to succeed. Some similarity are that managers needs to maintain their goals and vision of the future. This depend on the structure of the project but to maintain an understanding of a goal, they must have a good leader to push them. Managers must maintain the status quo to a limit. The status quo will change throughout years due to new policy being enforced. They have the ability to change the culture of a team. They can put a new challenge or improve the goals of the company. This could be in response to understand situation from a different standpoint. This will allow me to increase my situational awareness to the situation. My roommate was a messy person. Because his unwashed clothes were piling up, and I feared that they would attract more insects soon. I approached him and politely asked him to least wash some of his dirty clothes, so the pile does not build up any higher. He explained to me how he forgot to do laundry and he needed to travel home to use a proper machine to wash his clothes. I then questioned if he was fabricating this tale to me. I told him that I understand his predicament because I used to be disorganized. Then, it was my turn to speak about this situation. I explained how I did not appreciate his mess invading my side of the room. I then used my negotiation skills to explain my point of view. Negotiation can be defined as discussion aimed at reaching an agreement. To settle this issue, we agreed that I would make an ideal task list to keep track of his progress. I also set smaller and easily feasible goals for him to complete. For example, I told him to put away his underwear in the drawer if it was cleaned. A couple of week passed, and I noticed that the insects were not going away and the mess was getting more disgusting with a prudent odor to it. This model did not succeed. Next, I tried to use the integrative approach to point out the main point of my argument in the situation.
