Equal Pay Is For Snowflakes In this world there is one thing that is of the utmost importance and that is hard work. It doesn’t matter if one is a millennial who gets participation trophies, the only way to make it in this world is to work. Some may say there is a wage gap, but that’s not real. A wage gap can’t exist because of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Women have been know to get pregnant, which hinders the work place. While they are out on maternity leave, the male employees have to pick up the slack. Finally, the level of education comes into question which helps make sense of the misconception of a wage gap.

A study done by the U.S. Census comparing education rates from 1950 to 2000 show that less women attended college between 1950 until 1980.(Bureau) Women started off as uneducated workers it was only fair that the men who went to college and studied to be well prepared for a career get paid more. To this day those educated men still have a control for the issues at hand is that the women below them are either uneducated or not fit to handle the job at hand. Women were put into workplaces and had to work their way up without degrees, why give them more pay for that? Now women have begun to become more educated and prepared for a man’s world. Yes, in historical terms there was a wage gap, but now that is in the past.
The past has shaped the way society thinks and what is the correct way to handle “inequalities”. The inequalities seen today are nowhere close to what they were in the 50’s or 60’s, in actuality there aren’t any. Equal pay is a discussion of the past that should stay in the past, the government has acts such as the Equal Pay Act to ensure the protection of women’s pay. The discussion we should be having is why is maternity leave such a hassle or why can’t women understand that they need to be educated in order to be paid
