First off, I was comparing the spring concert to the senior showcase. In comparison the senior showcase was so much better and this time around it seemed a little ill rehearsed. However, although that was my initial opinion it turned out a little better than what I thought.
For the first number, the lighting fit the costumes. The way the light reflected off of their black sequins dresses really made the dance stand out. I really enjoy the second dance “I had a dream” because the message was inspiring. I liked how the dancers portrayed the military dancers dreams and it was more of an emotional contemp dance. I have noticed how Monique has progressed with her dancing with the few numbers that she was in. “Miss Universe” was a funny yet clever

I noticed a few dancer who would go from one dance onto the next in a completely different outfit. Another thing I noticed is that backstage seems very dangerous for the dancers because they go from having a bright light shining in their eyes to going backstage where it is very dark and they have to learn to adjust their eyes quickly to avoid getting hurt.
On to technique, I saw how some dancers had a really great turn out and often remembered to point their toes. Other types of technique I saw were arrastres, degages, developpes, Fifth positions, first positions, and grand jetes. There were a lot more but these are the main ones that I saw. Getting technique down is not very easy so I give props to all of the dancers.
Throughout the dances I seen a few people mess up but they got back and continued to dance. They did not let their mistake affect them. Like it is said the show must go on. Now that I know what it is like to learn technique and to actually be in a dance choreographed by others I have more respect. Normally people look at dance and think it is easy and that anyone can do it. The reality is that it is so much work and determination. Our dancers at Valley are truly skilled and take a lot of their free time doing what they love, dancing. Overall, the performance was not as great as it could have been but I know a lot of the dancers and I know how hard they worked to put on the spring concert for
After watching the videos most made me feel same as in our book Bill T. Jones says, “Make something beautiful…Make something that comes honestly from you. Dare to fail.” That is exactly ho I felt after watching most of the videos. They were full of emotions and contact. The movements were very touchy feely and emotional with a story to tell; especially, the one called “What is contact improvisation?” I did reminded me of some of the previous choreographies we watched. I most of the videos there was a lots of ballet movements except the “Rennie Harris Puremovement │ Jacob 's Pillow Dance Festival 2009," which I actually enjoyed the most. I also did see some jazz, and musical, but not tap. If I look at previous video from Bob Fosse and his “Sweet Charity”, I don’t really see any connection between the videos we have see in this chapter.
...ep performance. Shining as the main focus, the simplistic technical aspects enhanced the mood and the embodiment of the characters they portrayed. Technically and physically the preciseness and the fast paced movements behind every count sold the performance. They “could have not put in more content if you tried” (Dancingwts09) judge Bruno Tonioli. Proving in the end the bond that was formed and the quality not quantity of the dance, and the support from the nation could Kellie and Derek entitle themselves as season 16 Dancing with the Stars Champions. Winning the coveted mirror ball trophy.
...te Choir did a very poor job with emotional projection (tone); they never smiled or even suggested a hint of feeling in their voices. I found that this made their performance somewhat uninteresting because it wasn’t relatable or something that made me curious. It think that the conductor did a good job making sure that the choir watched her and she guided them through the songs, but I thought it was a bad idea she joined them in the mambo during “One Goal”. The choir did a good job holding up their harmonies and staying in tune. I think that if this choir had a better knowledge and understanding of dynamics it would have made their performance a lot better, especially if they had taken chances. I wish that this choir would have annunciated more so that we could hear the message that they were trying to convey. Still, I think that the choir did respectably overall.
I attended the Chicago musical performance on September 13th at 2pm at the Toland Theatre. My initial expectations for this particular performance were relatively low as this was not a professional musical performed by professional actors and dancers. However, the opening scene and first musical number tremendously exceeded by low expectations. The quick rhythm of the majority of the dance numbers, unique choreography, and excellent execution of all dance numbers with immense precision truly impressed me. Overall, the choreography of each dance number incorporated acting, dancing, and singing as the choreography enhanced each scene by making the story more understandable and created an outlet to express the feelings
I attended “The Spring Jazz Collaboration” featuring the “CSI Jazz Combo”, “Swing Band”, and “Madrigal Ensemble” on March 9th. At first I thought it was just going to be three people playing the saxophone, the drums, and the bass. I was obviously wrong. Each song had their unique sound. I really liked how each musician had their own solo because it helped me hear the instrument and know what they sound like and that’s coming from a person who had never experienced a Jazz concert. The concert was broken up into four different sections. When the musicains walked out, I felt like they were a little nervous but when they started to play fell back into their comfort zone. Through the whole concert, I could see their passion for mucic.
On Friday, April 29, 2016, I attended the Soulmatic Rhythm Dance Company’s recital titled OO Dance at the Campo Verde High School Auditorium. I personally thought it was an entertaining show that showed off the strength of Campo’s dance team. And due to the use of stage, lighting, and excellent choreography, I do think I am the only In the jazz piece, “00 Dance” choreographed by Heather Booth and Lexee Crandall I found that the lighting and the costumes really accented the dance. The dance started off great with a table at the center of the stage and all the dancers wearing masks.
When attending a hip hop concert, it's important to have the right mindset before it begins. I was ready to appreciate the performances, energetic crowds and the overall energy in the arena. The crowd type was large multitude of young people and old people. Within this type of event i found it very hard not to do a review on it. Throughout the paper i will give my review on the top two performers who i thought had the best performances.
I loved the fact that with each performance I could clearly hear the words and the melodies and instruments of the songs displayed. The audience that attended that night was very large as well. All the seats within the room filled as the concert began and the ages were about five years old and up. As far as the overall idea of what the seniors class and junior class was trying to accomplish I think they did an excellent job. Soul society members wanted to do a concert to give congratulations to all the graduation seniors of this year and decided to hold a concert because some members of soul society would be going off to
This musical is about two rival singing gangs named the Jets and the other the Sharks. The Jets are made up of white male teenagers which the Sharks are colored Puerto Rican teenagers. They don’t like each other and hate one another. The leader of the Jets wants an ex-Jet Tony to join in a fight. They believe the Jets are superior and want to keep other gangs out. Tony gets pressured to go by the Leader and he accepts. Tony begins to have a musical number at his job and sings about how great tonight will be. At a dance, Tony spots a Puerto Rican woman named Maria. They both dance and appear to fall in love. However, both individuals come from two rival backgrounds and interrelations is prohibited. This scene is a classic scene similar to play
There are many different careers in dance such as: • Musical theatre • Dance teacher • Choreologist • Dance reviewer • Dance researcher • Costume designer • Dancer (performer in a company) • Choreographer • Marketer for a dance company • Dance company director • Biokineticist • Physiotherapist • Hair and makeup artist • Shoe and foot specialist • Trainer or body conditioning instructor • Pianist/ musician • Set designer • Lighting designer • Dance photographer or videographer • Stage manager Running a dance company The first thing one has to do when running a dance company, is start it. Before starting any company, one should have a business plan in which the aim, finances and goals of your company are decided. After adequate facilities
It made the show more intimate and close-knit. This probably made it easier for the performers because it eliminated “stage fright”. The stage was prefect for the occasion. There was no adjustments to be made in-between performances because all of the necessary equipment’s was all available. I also was very fond of the diversity of the music that was played at this music forum.
For this class assignment, we were required to go to some type of music concert and write a four to five page analytical paper on the experience. I chose a concert for someone who was on tour who I already knew and liked his style of music. The person who was heading the tour was a performer who goes by the name SoMo. He performs his own original songs as well as doing covers of other people’s music, which he posts to his channel on youtube. His style or genre of music is R&B. The concert that I went to was at the Georgia Theatre in Athens Georgia on April 19th. The concert consisted of three singer acts two of the singers were what could possibly be considered “the opening acts” and the third person was SoMo
Dance is a part of every culture. Whether it is the fire dances of the native Hawaiians, or the Tango from Spain, dance is a part of every culture. This event is not an event I would usually attend. I am not into art of any kind except music. At first, there were two reasons I went to this performance.
Another thing that I really enjoyed from your class were all those times you had us doing Dancing With the Stars. I believe by having us do that actually made us learn more about the dances and had us more aware of how the dances look and overall just to be able to identify the concepts of all these dances. I also liked going to those dance concerts that is also a good way to have us know how the dances look and learn more on how they develop and change a lot throughout the many c...
I remembered that one scene from one of the school play of my high school involved the lights as well. However, it was used less successfully back then. My peers were simply displaying background images on the screen, instead of of incorporating the lights into the entire performance to improve the quality of it. This comparison just showed me again that how good were these choreographers and directors to use something outside the regular dance range in a performance. The stage effects were certainly enriched, so did the audience’s experiences. It was clear that that show was unique on that night. The use of lights in such dance performances is not new these days, but I still and impressed with this dance because of its overall effects. The dancers were wearing some kind of work suits from a lab, which made the lights reflected on their bodies when the lights were on as they danced. That was truly
