Live concert analytical paper
For this class assignment, we were required to go to some type of music concert and write a four to five page analytical paper on the experience. I chose a concert for someone who was on tour who I already knew and liked his style of music. The person who was heading the tour was a performer who goes by the name SoMo. He performs his own original songs as well as doing covers of other people’s music, which he posts to his channel on youtube. His style or genre of music is R&B. The concert that I went to was at the Georgia Theatre in Athens Georgia on April 19th. The concert consisted of three singer acts two of the singers were what could possibly be considered “the opening acts” and the third person was SoMo

There was not a dull or boring moment throughout the entire concert. The singers knew how to interact with the audience like getting people to raise their arms or sing along with them if they knew the worlds of the song that the singer was singing etc. I had also paid extra money to get a VIP “meet and greet” ticket so that I could go to greeting season after the concert. After the concert, I went to the meet and greet session with SoMo where I took a picture of myself with him, as well as getting my VIP pass signed. When he was signing the VIP pass I asked him if I could photocopy the VIP pass with his signature on it or a copy of the photo with him for proof that I had gone to a concert for a school assignment for a music class, he said yes. He also wished me luck on passing the class. This concert was my first real music concert and because of this, I have no other music concert to compare it to but in my personal opinion, the overall performance was good and I really have no negative thoughts about the concert. I had a lot of fun, and I think that the amount of money I spent and the distance I drove to the concert and back was worth it and that I would be willing to go see him again next time he is in town for a
Prior to the concert I had been somewhat familiar with all three bands' music. I
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
On Monday March 25, some members of the baseball team, my girlfriend, and I traveled to Murray State University to watch a concert performed by Nelly and the St. Lunatics. It was a terrible night to go anywhere because it was raining and storming the whole way, but there was nothing that was going to stop us from going to the concert. We where all so hyped up about it and couldn’t wait to head out. My brother, who attends Murray State, had gotten us excellent seats about seventy-five feet away from the stage.
So we figured everything out and and figured that Alex Kramper, Tori Main, Trevor Waller, Kristen Kesler, and me were going to the concert, the next day we met at Alex’s house to all ride in the concert together in Trevor’s truck, it was a planned booze cruise through St.Louis. So I woke up early in the morning for the Saturday concert and did my chores early in the morning so I wouldn’t have to do them the next day all hungover. I finally finish all my chores and then take a shower and head out to Alex’s house dressed in rock concert material, with a Captain Morgan handle and a case of Stag.
In the year 2011, Rigby High School’s Concert Band was coming to the close of another great concert. They were getting to a very dramatic part of the song Ave Maria, and during a break in the melodies, a sharp baby cry was heard throughout the auditorium, followed by a loud yell from a parent. The rest of the concert was a disaster, with conversation and talking heard in the recording. In fact, Rigby has not once gotten a clean recording without conversation and noises in the concerts. People unfortunately do not understand how to behave during concerts of any type. With some concerts and performances, it is ok to vocalize, but concert band is not one of them. To help explain this, concert band will be compared to jazz band in its origins, type, and expectations to show why this type of behavior is unacceptable.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.

The formation of the Concert and Wind Ensemble bands dates back to the Middle Ages and Medieval Times. The Concert Band and Wind Ensemble have evolved over the years, due in part to significant historical events, music combinations, individuals, and progress.
I interviewed an old man who is in his 50’s came for the concert. Before I approached him I though he is a temple faculty but he wasn’t. I introduced myself to him and I asked why he is attending the concert and how is the concert went through so far? He answered that, he is working in a different place. When he heard about this concert he just stopped because he has a Jazz music background. He learned Jazz when he was a kid and after getting a job he couldn’t get an opportunity to practice that. He liked the concert really well and he understands more on the Jazz music. I only got a chance to interview one person, I tried to interview one more person, but everyone was too busy enjoying the concert. Everyone was enjoying the concert including myself. I enjoyed it really well. This was my first live concert, and I was excited to attend it. Also, I was interested to learn more about Jazz music.
Over Halloween weekend, Dance TCU in concert, performed at Ed Landreth Hall on the TCU campus, was a mid term showcase performed by the students in the TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance. The overall mood was very professional. These college level dancers performed various pieces from Giselle to video edited versions of dance to contemporary dances inspired by swing dancing. Each piece was unique and whether the style was classical or contemporary, the execution was very good. The quality of the performance was spectacular and showed all the work that everyone involved in the production has put out to perfect all the aspects of the show come together. The Symphony Orchestra concert was preformed by The OU School of Music with Jonathan Shames as a conductor and they presented Sutton Concert Series. In addition, the Orchestra concert performed at Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall in October 12, 2015.There were like forty-one performers on the stage including the conductor using different types of instruments and and all of them were wearing a nice black clothes. The stage was a quite large with wooden floor and there were two floors for the audience with a comfortable seating. However, all the performers were on round shape and against the conductor.
For this concert report I chose to go to a performance of student composers held at the Kimball Recital Hall. I chose this one because I wanted to see some of the talent that my peers have in the music realm, and also it was one of the only concerts I have been able to attend because I usually work at night. It was impressive to hear pieces composed by students. I cannot imagine creating something as complex as a musical composition, much less actually performing it, so this aspect of the concert was particularly awe-inspiring. There was a large attendance, and I think that much of the audience consisted of friends of the composers and/or performers. I went with three friends, who I convinced by telling it would be interesting to see student composers.
Musical concerts are undoubtedly an incredible opportunity to experience a great aesthetic pleasure by listening to the musicians perform in front of your eyes. The power of music can hardly be overestimated – it can transfer a number of messages, thoughts and feelings through the performed sounds. Therefore the one can comprehend the music in the best possible way only when it is heard live. Musical concerts are often revelatory and highly impressive experiences to me. This essay thereby aims to provide my reflections and impressions of the concert of Gregory Porter & the Metropole Orchestra which I had the opportunity to attend in Nashville, TN.
Music: the art of organized noise. The blend of pitch and rhythm combined in different mediums and enjoyed by our ears. A very interpretive art, music isn’t very clearly constricted or defined by one definition. With so many varieties of music, it’s difficult to say what aspect is really the most important. Some people think music’s history and the appreciation of music are the most important aspects to take into consideration. Some think complex in rhythms and melodies make the best music. Some people devote their whole lives to studying one genre of music in order to fully understand how that genre works. While all of these aspects of music are important, none of them can truly be compared with each other on a fair playing field. Music of different genres, eras, and geographic backgrounds were written for different purposes, different people, and different settings. Still, there is still one overarching theme that applies to all forms of music new or old: the way the composer presents his or her creation. The performance and presentation of a work of music is like the icing on the top of a cake. The cake may be the best you’ve ever tasted, but if the icing on the outside doesn’t look appealing or doesn’t taste good, chances are you’ll take a different piece of cake with better looking frosting next time. The performance of music is what appeals most to people. With live performance, an artist must “sell” his or her creation. They must put smile on their face and convey to the audience that this is their music and through the music explain why it’s awesome. I had never really been to a big concert that had a well-known band. A couple of weeks before the concert I got some information about it, but really didn't think much of it. I talked with some friends about the band and we all casually decided to go get tickets for it. Little did I know what an absolutely spectacular time I would have.
Then audience members who were perfect strangers who were screaming loudest would turn to each other with knowing glances and smile because they were sharing the same excitement and connecting with one another over their love of this man’s music. There was no pushing or shoving to get closer to the stage – it wasn’t that kind of crowd. Instead, there was mutual respect for one another’s space within the confines of the too-small venue. Nobody wanted to be the person who ruined it for someone else. It was this respect that made the audience members’ connections with one another that much stronger – we were all here to listen to this wonderful man’s music and see his performance – and, of course, we were here to enjoy it.
