I recently attended a music forum that was held at the front auditorium of Hudgins hall on April 28th, 2016. This forum was held to showcase a few styles of music by the students and faculty at Angelina College. The event had a maximum of 15 people in attendance but the music department still went on with a great show. The music forum consisted of 5 different acts of from vocals and piano to a small orchestra. Each individual performance was unique in its own way. Some were very simple but powerful; other was complex and ornamented. This was my second time attending a music forum and was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this music forum more than the first on I attended. It made the show more intimate and close-knit. This probably made it easier for the performers because it eliminated “stage fright”. The stage was prefect for the occasion. There was no adjustments to be made in-between performances because all of the necessary equipment’s was all available. I also was very fond of the diversity of the music that was played at this music forum. There was multiple instruments played like the Piano, Trumpet, Clarinet, and the Euphonium. Additionally there were multiple voice tones like Baritone and Tenor. This variety also made the performance well worth attending. My favorite part of the entire forum was the last piece entitle “Lord of the Dance” by Ronan Hardiman. This song performance was the most dynamic and grand song that was played. The heavily ornamented song was performed by a total of 8 people, some of which had solo earlier. I really enjoyed the performers fully utilizing all available instruments to perform such an amazing song. This performance was hands down the highlight of forum.
