Recommended: Parenting styles theory

The psychological study of parenting has resulted in categorizing different parenting styles, and dimensions of parenting. The four parenting styles are: authoritarian parenting, democratic or authoritative parenting, permissive parenting, and uninvolved parenting. The different dimensions of parenting are: disciplinary strategies, warmth and nurturing, communication styles, and expectations of maturity and control. Each parenting style has a different effect on children, and can determine what kind of adult that child will turn into. Authoritarian parents often expect their children to follow their rules without explanation, and the children are punished when they choose not to comply. Discipline is rare in these homes, because the parent take the role of a friend more than a parent. The uninvolved parents are responsive to the child, but not very much at all. They tend to have little to no communicate with their child, and are detached from their life. These parents usually provide the child with their basic needs, but some serious cases the basic needs of the child are neglected. What seems to be the best working parenting style is the democratic or authoritative style. Parents that use this method of parenting statically end up with a better well rounded and adjusted child, that turns into an independent adult as they grow. Some parents decide to change their parenting style for many different reasons. Although not every child responds to a parenting style the same way as an other child. The styles varies with different aspects of the child 's life. There are various things that can affect with the development of children along with the parenting style. The economy is on of the things that can affect the child and the parents in many parts of their lives.
