The results described me as being low on extraversion, average on agreeableness, high on conscientious, low on neuroticism, and low on openness to experience. Looking at my final scores, I see that the test did a very good job of characterizing how I think my personality is overall. I believe the test worked extremely well in capturing my personality. For example I am an introvert. I do not like having a large group of friends and I would never walk up to someone I didn’t know and began talking to them because that makes me extremely nervous. The test really summed up my personality and how I act on a daily basis. What I thought was really interesting was looking at the break down of each category. However, one thing I definitely disagreed with was my low level of cautiousness. The test believed that I said the first thing that come to mind without thinking of alternatives. That result, was very far from the truth. I’d like to think that I’m very controlled and only say pleasant things that I think through beforehand. I also think that my level of agreeableness should have been high instead of average. I like to get along with everyone and often compromise things to help others. I think the two personality traits that described me best was being low on extroversion and being high on conscientious because that’s basically me described in simple terms. I pride myself on being hardworking and reliable so I really loved that that part came out correct. My low extroversion is expressed the most in class presentations. For example, just the idea of having to give a presentation to a class of even 20 makes me so uncomfortable. I’d rather write a paper on my own and submit it to my professor than having to talk with strangers. The questions asked questions overall that describe a person’s personality through different environments and situations. I found the test to seem to be reliable. I believe if I took the test over again I would get similar answers. However, for some people the test may not be as strongly reliable. The participants’ mood could cause them to rate some questions differently than they did before (Funder, 2013, p. 45). I also think the test would produce results that would apply to various people because it asked a good array of questions in a way that wasn’t too specific that it would affect anyone who took it. The only questions that may present a problem across people would be the amount of interaction with people. In some cultures, it is acceptable and normal to be around a lot of people and in some cultures you are not supposed to interact a lot with others. So various participants’ may rate certain questions according to their social norm instead of how they truly are as a person. Another concern with this personality test was that I thought it was a little long. Even though the more questions the better for the data I believe once participants get to the next page they may just click any answer. I suggest may be doing as little as 10 or 30 questions per page so the participants can focus on each question. I think the test overall is great if people answer the
