Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment. The single most helpful and insightful exercise we have done throughout this course has been the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI). However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. My ENTJ personality directly connects with various management careers, which is a long-term career goal for me. I found that much of my free time is spent socializing with friends and competing in numerous sports and hobbies. I found that much of my daily life revolves around competition, from playing collegian level soccer to video games with friends. Competition has always interested me from a very young age when I first begin playing soccer. However, I found there is a distinction between healthy competition and unhealthy competition within my own interests. Healthy competition was doing my best in order to advance and develop a skill or process. Conversely, Unhealthy competition was a sole focus on winning and a trap I have fallen into many times. In the work world today healthy competition can be a monumental tool used to engage and motivate employees. In class we have talked about a company called Nucor that has used competition within shifts to advance technology through innovation and increasing production. I believe my interest in competition and my competitive drive when instrumented in the right environment could be a huge motivator in the future
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test, otherwise known as the MBTI test, is a questionnaire intended to measure and evaluates the psychological preferences of individuals in relation to their perception of the world, and generally their decision making ability. This was developed and got form typological theories that were deduced by Cal Gustav Jung. He categorized them into four psychological functions, which each unique individual uses to experience the world. They include feeling, sensation, intuition and thinking (Myers I. B., 1987).
The four personality preference ISTF – Introvert, Sensing, Thinking and Judging, joined together to form the person that I am. After the completion of the Meyers-Briggs Personality test, I understand how I am and how I can better relate to other personalities. Being willing to change and adapt to my strengths will help me grow as a leader.
The purpose of the Myers-Biggs Type Indicator personality type is to make the philosophy of psychological indicators defined by C.G Jung comprehensible and beneficial to people. On the other hand, several people realize that every individual prefers diverse learning styles and methods, which is the common way of learning. According to Howard Gardner, to lengthen the learning ability of people, more cognizance needs to be given to different learning style that people will prefer to receive data. There are different types of personality indicator and learning styles, but based on this assignment, I am going to describe two personality types and three learning styles.
Understanding why people do what they do has baffled people for centuries. The Myers-Briggs Personality test has answer a few of these questions. Are you an Extrovert or an Introvert, Sensor or iNtuitive, a Thinker or a Feeler, a Judger or Perceiver? Once you have the tools to understand yourself, you are capable of understanding others. The ability to be self-aware, identify specific personality traits, and assess personal strengths and weaknesses are powerful tools for lifelong personal and professional success. One of the most popular and trusted personality assessment tools utilized today is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (CPP, 2016). According to Meyers-Briggs Personality test my personality type is ESFJ also known as “The Caregiver.” An ESFJ is one of 13 personality types identified through the Myers-Briggs assessment tool (HumanmetricsInc, 2016). This assignment will identify the different aspects of my personality and how they work together. It will also evaluate strengths, weaknesses and organizational behaviors in an effort to maximize professional performance.
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
The Myers-Briggs profile was based on the test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers (“The History of the MTBI assessment”, 2017). There are eight letters that can make up your profile E, N, F, P, I, S, T, and J. “E” stands for extrovert, meaning someone outgoing or social. “N” stands for intuitive, meaning the person goes off of their reasoning or feelings about something. “F” is for feelings, which represent an emotional state or belief about something. “P” is the symbol for perceiving, which means the way you process or take in a certain situation. “I” is for introvert, someone who keeps to themselves. “S” is for sensing, meaning you use common sense. “T” is for thinking, meaning you use your intellect. The MBTI assessments relate to Jung's theory of personality development because the purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung, (1921/1971)”Understandable and useful in people's lives. The core of the theory is that much apparently random disparity in behavior is actually quite orderly and dependable, being due to basic differences in the way individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.” (CAPT, 2014) This information will enable me to be successful as a counselor because I can incorporate the MBTI assessment as a part of my observations from a client to better understand my clients. I feel the test is accurate enough and can lead me to many answers based on my client’s results.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
The Myers-Briggs assessment says my personality type is ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging), which ISTJs take their responsibilities serious also working well as a team. The findings from this assessment helps me to see if the degree program I have choosing to peruse is a good choice with my personality type. The degree program I have chosen is Healthcare Administration and Management. I chose this program because I feel would it will be an exciting career that is always changing, and really get to make a difference while serving others.
Leadership is the glue that binds any business together, identifying and understanding your type of leadership style can ultimately aid you in becoming a better leader in your professional career. A successful business cannot function without leadership therefore this is a crucial aspect of internal employee development for businesses striving to stay relevant in a crowded marketplace. In addition to recognizing your leadership style every leader needs to look to them and identify what type of personality they have. By becoming an informed business leader you will gain trust and respect of your team to guide them into the future and maximizing potential growth. Throughout this paper I will identify my leadership style and also personality type and how it has affected my personal career growth. Identifying these conclusions is extremely important in crafting company culture.
My personality is hard to describe. It all can depend on the situation, but overall my core values stay the same. In this paper I will describe my personal analysis, which will include a self-assessment score of maximizer and satisficer, time management profile, and empowering others. I will also describe what my terminal values and instrumental values are. Then I will go through what my big five personality characteristics are and my MBTI personality profile. I will then describe my job posting assessment and, finally, my personal job fit analysis. Hopefully, by the end of this I will be able to recognize my strengths, weaknesses and values and have the ability to match my values to the type of values job postings are looking for.
On the 15th of May, 3013 an article was featured in Fortune Magazine that was titled “Have we all been duped by the Myers-Briggs Test?” The Myers-Briggs Test or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality assessment test created by Katherine Briggs & her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, based on psychologist Carl Jung’s type theory. Jung’s theory focused on the cognitive aspects of personality and classified people into types based on how they performed two functions: Taking in information (perception) and making decisions. People perceive things either through their senses or through their intuitions (Sensing V/s Intuition) and they make decisions either through logic and reason or based purely on their emotions (Thinking V/s Feeling).
