Throughout our lives we constantly wonder or asks ourselves what type of employee or person we are? Through countless discussions with our friends and family it seems as if everyone knows the type of person we are but when we are asked to describe ourselves many people draw blank stares. I was one of those people discussed until I took the Jung Typology Test. I mean I know what I liked and disliked but I never thought that I would complete a survey about myself and have that survey pinpoint exactly the type of personality I have. The personality I will discuss in my project is ESFJ (extraverted, sensing, feeling, and judging); also known as the caregiver. The military also takes great pride in educating the formations to be courteous and respectful members of not only the military but society as well. The various programs, Equal Opportunity, Resiliency Training, and Sexual Awareness Training, are just a few annual classes that we are required to complete that ensures the military continues to operate with professionalism and proper behavior as to not distract the formations from their primary missions. 

After taking the personality test I can use the results described to be a better leader. As I read about the various aspects pertaining to ESFJs, I took particular interest into how certain qualities about my personality can limit my performance and I need to identify change methods to make my workplace effective. For instance, as described, ESFJs have a tendency to display control of their environment and demands structure. I must that I am guilty of this description of my personality, as daily I demand structure and exhibit control over Soldiers to ensure the mission is accomplished. This action may give off a bad perception to my Soldiers as to what type of leader I am. The negative aspects can be that I’m too controlling and that I only value my decisions. I plan to enact a change with this perception by involving more bottom-up refinement from my subordinate leaders and only assume the authoritative style of control when the mission requires that type of leadership, i.e. short timelines or times of uncertainty.
