The style of leadership that would be the most comfortable for me would be delegation.
One of the first signs of good supervision is effective delegation. Delegation is when supervisors
give responsibility and authority to subordinates to complete a task, and let the subordinates
figure out how the task can be accomplished. Effective delegation develops people who are
ultimately more fulfilled and productive. Managers become more fulfilled and productive
themselves as they learn to count on their staffs and are freed up to attend to more
strategic issues.
Delegating is a critical skill for supervisors. Delegating involves working with an
employee to establish goals, granting them sufficient authority and responsibility to achieve the
goals, often giving them substantial freedom in deciding how the goals will be achieved,
remaining available as a resource to help them achieve the goals, assessing their performance,
addressing performance issues and/or rewarding their performance. Ultimately, the supervisor
retains responsibility for the attainment of the goals, but chooses to achieve the goals by
delegating to someone else. True delegation means giving up a little of what we would like to
hold onto while keeping what we might prefer to give up.
Participative style of leadership would be least comfortable for me. A participative
leader, rather than making decisions, looks to involve other staff in the process. Often however,
as it is up to the manager to decide how much influence others are given, this style can only
work well, when both managers and staff understand and are in agreement about which tasks are
important. The staffs expertise, experience and intuition need to be encouraged, not stifled, if
challenging situations are to be negotiated.
The goal of the participative leader is to persuade followers to share their values and
connect with their vision. It appears to me, to be obvious that most large organizations, the
federal government, the military, etc., require leaders and followers that possess the same core

The manager has different functions, attributes and skills. Different subordinate needs to have different leadership style. Finally, difference powers would have difference use on leadership influence. MANAGEMENT DEFINED Management can be defined as the process of planning organising, directing, and controlling organisational resources in the pursuit of organisational goals. LEADERSHIP DEFINED Leadership is frequently defined as a social influence relationship between two or more persons who depend on each other to attain certain mutual goals in a group situation.
Encarta Dictionary within Microsoft Word defines leadership as,” the ability to guide, direct, or influence people.” Expanding upon that definition, my personal definition is influencing people to follow to achieve a goal, regardless of how unpleasant. Leadership is not something that happens overnight, it needs to be cultivated over time. During that process, it is necessary to identify delinquencies and make adjustments. Reviewing the feedback provided by my LPI/360 assessment, the three areas identified I need to improve on are, praising people for a job well done, actively listening to diverse points of view, and becoming more visible within the workplace.
In the first situation, I would take Action C, that is, make the decision myself with reasons. After an assessment of the employees’ capabilities, I would choose the most qualified for the task at hand. Later, I would explain the reasons behind my decision to the workforce to avoid instances of distrust among the employees. The most qualified will be the one chosen to do the task before the impending deadline.
Participative (Democratic) leadership is, as its name implies, a participation of the group. The participants all collaborate in the decisions the group must make. “Researchers have found that this learning style is usually one of the most effective and lead to higher productivity, better contributions from the group members, and increased moral.”
Communication – Strong leaders know how to speak viably with staff at both higher and lower levels in the organization. Seeing how to obviously disclose errands and tasks to staff while conveying the significance of your area of expertise's work to managers is an urgent ability that takes practice. Great communicators keep staff educated when changes or redesigns to undertakings happen, are promptly accessible to staff and hold consistent gatherings to guarantee that all colleagues are mindful of the status of activities.

their own issues instead of the CEO doing all of the talking so to speak. If you haven’t notice in the last few years CEO’s have not done a great job of keeping their companies together such as the Enron scandal. Therefore, companies can pick the best individuals in the workforce and tie them together in certain job styles and let them become as one an lead themselves to success.
Delegating tasks is one area that I must work on in my leadership skills. When a leader cannot delegate task appropriately, this can lead to their downfall. My action is to learn more of the reasons why I chose not to delegate tasks. When that piece is understood, I can then move forward in correcting and adjusting my delegating. The employee specialist along with the Vice President of Nursing give me projects where delegating is necessary. They both follow these projects closely and challenge my moves of when and what I delegate and to whom those tasks are delegated to. Attending a seminar on delegation is also in my action
Delegation involves transfer of authority and power, but not the responsibility which remains with the managers. Being able to delegation is an important management function and it helps to improve the skills and commitment of entire staff involved. As a leader you select the right person or team for the task, specify your preferred results, get feedback on the progress of the project, maintain open lines of communication, and evaluate and reward
A leader can affect change in the work group simpler (Boseman, 2008). As a leader, individuals will certainly listen to your concepts and follow the instructions.
There are a few different types of well known leadership styles, authoritarian, delegative, and democratic. To assess my leadership style I used two online tests to help me determine my style. I felt the results were accurate and I fall into a democratic style/participative style. If I am leading I prefer to include the group and get their feedback on solving issues. However, I still make the final decision after listening to the thoughts of the group on a particular topic. This is considered to be a positive style of leadership that is inspiring to the group involved. The leaders decision making tends to be more accurate due to the input of other experts. (Cite)
... Staff cannot be supervised at all times. The younger management may find it harder to hold a certain amount of respect/discipline from certain staff members who previously knew them but on a lower ranking within the business. Ways in which to prevent this is to have the manager evaluate them personally to put in place that they are the boss and need to be respected and can not be walked over through a friendship.
