There are a huge variety of leaders, but what makes you a good one and segregates you from the common leaders? Leadership is a role in which you are given the responsibility to lead or guide a group of people. Many leaders also have timeless skills which often define them as good ones. Timeless means that something doesn’t change even though time passes by. This means that leaders from the present have the same skills as leaders from thousands of years ago. A successful and great leader has the timeless traits of being commanding, charismatic, and confident. Being commanding is one of the three timeless traits that a great leader should have. To be confident is to feel or show certainty about something. As a leader, you need to be confident because you need to be able to take risks and opportunities. There is a quote that says “Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong”. If you don’t take risks, then you might miss a great opportunity. Many great leaders have exemplified confidence from thousands of years ago and also today. One great pharaoh from the past that exemplified this trait was Akhenaten. Akhenaten was a pharaoh in Egypt who reigned during the time period of 1353–1336 BC. He was a very famous pharaoh for many of his great accomplishments. Some of them were creating a whole new capital from scratch, greatly developing art and architecture, and starting monotheism in Egypt. The first reason why Akhenaten was confident is because he started monotheism. No pharaoh has ever believed in monotheism and instead they believed in several different gods, although Akhenaten was one of the first pharaohs to try and start monotheism. To Akhenaten it was a huge risk for him; everyone has always believed in different gods so if Akhenaten decided to suddenly change the religion to monotheism, then there could be protests and riots against him. Akhenaten faced many challenges but decided to give it a try. Monotheism was a success for Akhenaten but only when he was alive.
