The Industrial Revolution, in the eighteenth century changed and modernized England greatly. The Industrial Revolution was when the people no longer produced hand-made goods but rather manufactured goods. Accordingly, the iron and textile industries along, with the steam engine played beneficial roles in the Industrial Revolution. The lives of the people also changed drastically as most had different jobs and lived in urban areas. Initially, it began with the Agricultural Revolution. Wealthy owners bought several poor farmer’s land and enclosed them all with fences, also known as the enclosure movement. Consequently, urbanization occurred, meaning the poor farmers and other people moved from rural areas to urban areas, or the city, to work in factories. This contributed to the Industrial Revolution since there was such a high population, then there was a demand for goods. Entrepreneurs and inventors then came in to help meet the consumer demands. I also learned that Britain was the first to industrialize because of their harbors, resources, quantity of money, and new inventions. Along with this, the factors of production are land, labor, and capital. Afterwards, new inventions occurred which was the focal point of the revolution. In a like manner, the U.S was able to industrialize like Britain because the U.S had similar resources needed and a large supply of laborers. The Industrial Revolution is also still relevant because countries have advanced greatly since then and have improved inventions drastically such as from a light bulb to electricity with a flip of a switch; or from steam engines to race cars and airplanes in the sky.
