The organization that will discussed is the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). TDCJ manages the state's prison system, parole, and state jail systems. This agency is the largest state agency in Texas and they provide training, funding and community supervision. The mission statement of the TDCJ is to provide public safety promote positive change in offender behavior reintegrate offender into society and assist victims of crime.
By reading the mission statement, it is believed that the TDCJ has goal clarity. The TDCJ has a variety of divisions in which they use the hierarchy system. To have a better understanding I view their organizational chart. The TDCJ has several different organizational charts and at top of the chart it always starts with the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, Executive Director, Deputy director, Parole Division Director, then it branches of into Regional director, parole supervisor, then parole officer.
Each of the job titles have different roles within the organization and different management styles but the mission statement does not change for each department. This is when the ambiguity goal is apparent. The TDCJ goal is to help the offenders become functioning citizens in society.

The Government performance Project (GPP) approach should be used with upper management. Because they can set long and short-term goals how the division should function and Program delivery, performance, measurements and the results are used for better management. Also, all the departments are working together to achieve their goal. The Financial, Human Resources, Capital Management and Information technology may not deal with the ex-offenders directly but without those departments the officers will not be able to
