Sport Coach
I have been an employee for the Town of Richmond Hill for only a year now, which really surprises me because of how far I have come in this venture. From being a fellow student in swimming lessons, to taking lengthy, more advanced courses; I had finally reached my goal of being hired as a lifeguard/instructor near the beginning of grade 11. Little did I know, that was only the beginning of my journey that led up to me becoming a head coach of my own R.H.L.C team!
What is R.H.L.C? Well, the Richmond-Hill-Lifesaving-Club is a year-round program that introduces young athletes to lifesaving by placing them in a competitive sport-like environment. When we gather for practice on Monday nights, I like to begin with a team discussion

Because of this, the committee and I were able to sell nearly all of the tickets for the 50/50 raffle. This is a huge accomplishment for myself, because I know that with a little hard work and dedication I was able to contribute towards finding the cure for cancer. Another task I appreciated doing was describing the donated items to those participating in the silent auction. I was able to combine my passion for generating sales and communication skills out of the goodness of my heart, knowing that for every dollar I raised was going towards the …show more content…
I was the leader of the “Green team” and led my group towards placing first in the cheer contest by organizing an inspiring team chant. All of this, led up to the main event of the weekend, which was solving the business challenge using a case study approach sponsored by CIBC. The task at hand was divided into groups of six, to propose a solution for the problem of senior citizens neglecting online banking. I took the initiative to lead my group by assigning roles in order to complete the task and accurately present our information in front of real executives from CIBC bank. It was at this very moment when I discovered my love for case studies, as I immediately excelled using this hands on approach while incorporating all technical skills I have learned in the
Interview with Mr. Scott William in the Field of Sport Science My interviewee was Mr. Scott William, a well-known professor in the field of sport psychology. My discipline is sport science, and although William does not teach at the university, he has a sport psychology degree. He is a close friend of my father’s and my mentor. He has been working in sport and recreation industry for the last ten years before I even knew him; so it seemed like he had a good understanding of sport science and the use of drugs in sports.
Taking on so many vital roles have challenged and excited me in countless ways that nothing else ever has. It has allowed me to become both a better leader and collaborator through my efforts to make the club better. My positions on board forced me to constantly put others' needs over mine as well as further my social skills through interactions within and outside the club. My natural inclination to enjoy responsibility and organization has been extremely helpful in being a skilled
In the past four years of my life, no activity has affected me more than wrestling. Four years of varsity wrestling and the honor of being a team captain has instilled many qualities in me. First, through years of hard work and continuous dieting, wrestling has given me discipline. This discipline has spread to other parts of my personality, including my moral character, work ethic, and perserverence. Another quality wrestling has given me is leadership. As a team captain, I have learned to lead by example, both on and off the mat. Above all, though, wrestling has given me a love of life. Through this sport, I have experienced pain, sacrifice, adversity, and success. Exposure to these feelings-which are, in my opinion, the essence of being-has
The purpose of this case study is to investigate and bring new insight to situations and behaviors within an organization. Case studies are learning tools which utilize social science research to identify and resolve individual and organizational challenges (K. Mariama-Arthur Esq., 2015).
Doing so I have learned many valuable lessons. Through the competitions I have participated in I have learned to be an exemplar representation of where I come from, by holding myself to a high professional standard, employing my leadership skills, pushing myself despite the challenges that come my way, and using my words to express the issues that desperately demand attention. When it comes to the soccer team, I have learned that everyone has a story, that by just listening to others we can make their lives a lot easier, that unity is the key to success whether on the soccer field or in life, and that sports are a great way to streghten unions. I will use these lessons to become a great Civil Rights attorney, and help my community in every way that I
There are many possible reasons on why my high school football team was unsuccessful this year. Some of those reasons may; graduated seniors, underclassmen not seeing playing time, injuries, the coach being too much of a friend and more. It’s important for our school to have success in sports. We aren’t the most successful in academics. Most students go straight to the work force instead of college. If we don’t perform well in athletics, then we pretty much get no recognition, which in small town is really important. West Central (Winchester/Bluffs co-op) was founded in 2004. We have always had a successful basketball team, but our football program has had struggles. Particularly this year, the football team had the worst season since the co-op. They finished the season 2-7 and ended with a seven game losing streak.

What is coaching? Coaching can be interpreted as something so small such as someone that teaches people ranging in all ages a particular sport. But what people do not know is that coaching is more than just a position; it is a partnership. “Coaching is a one-to-one procedure and a connection between an individual and a coach with specific objectives and goals focused on developing potential, improving interactions, and increasing performance” (Blanchard, 2013). Coaches are usually an expert in their sport and are willing to push potential achievers to where they want to be or what they are willing to become. Being a coach doesn’t just begin like a typical day at work. The coach has to develop a professional relationship with their team or individual participant. In the process of developing that relationship, the coach has to take steps such as identifying the short term or long term objectives of the individual or team being guided. The focus is then on the skills needed to develop and achieve those objectives. In professional coaching, the single participant begins by initiating conversation while the coach listens and observes. Gradually, as the coach begins to comprehend the individual’s goals, there will be observations made and appropriate questioning of the goals. Eventually, after the observation and small talk, the coach’s task is to guide the individual towards making more effective decisions and eventually achieving the objectives. Continuing the development process, the coach looks at the individual’s initial placement to then determine which direction the individual will eventually go. Coaching is a very intricate and complicated process. It is a progression that requires effort from a wide variety of specialist in su...

What do people have to do to become a teacher , coach or both? Let me take you back in time. Back then the learned men of ancient times, by default became the teachers. Priests and prophets taught children of the wealthy and noble, the skills to take up their roles as leaders and businessmen. So in other words, people who had knowledge they passed it down. After that knowledge being passed down those people would tell someone else and so on. Back then people with power like priests and king , told people things and people trusted them and of course they listened to them.
In sports, a coach is someone who is involved in the direction, instruction, and training of a team or individual in a sport. Coaches are often considered to be a type of teacher because they use some of the same strategies to help athletes learn skills. Athletic coaches can coach either individuals or teams. Sports coaching is a process when it is implemented in a systematic, constraint-supportive context. It is an integrated, interdependent and serial accumulation of purposeful activities, drills, and experiences that are designed to improve competition and performance.
A sport coaching is an important way of developing the career of athletes. It involves a manager or a coach helping sportspeople to utilize their abilities and advance in their sports careers. Coaches usually watch his/her performer in a match, identify areas that need improvement in the performer’s sporting, and develop plans for training sessions that will be used to correct the problems identified. The coach usually applies some skills which are usually gained through formal education and training or through experience and observation (Knowles et al 2005). This includes the use of an appropriate coaching philosophy to learn the psychological aspects of sportspeople and set the stage for performance within a sports team. A coaching philosophy
