Interview with Mr. Scott William in the Field of Sport Science
My interviewee was Mr. Scott William, a well-known professor in the field of sport psychology. My discipline is sport science, and although William does not teach at the university, he has a sport psychology degree. He is a close friend of my father’s and my mentor. He has been working in sport and recreation industry for the last ten years before I even knew him; so it seemed like he had a good understanding of sport science and the use of drugs in sports. As it turned out, William has been working as a sport psychologist and he has helped curb incidences of drug use in sports.

Ph.D. in Sports Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Work and Health Safety, Graduate Diploma in Exercise Rehabilitation and Master of Exercise Science.
Q3. Are there any licenses or continuing education units you have to get each year or maintain?
A. As a Sport Psychology, am required to maintain licensure for counseling, clinical as well as direct psychological services. Nevertheless, am not required to have licensure in order to conduct academic research activities.
Q4. What do you like most/ least about your job?
A. What I like most about my profession are the perspectives on sport psychology. When you view my job as a discipline within the larger field of psychology, is defined as an applied psychology – or as a field of study in which the principles of psychology are applied to sport. As far as am concerned, it is the effect of sport itself on human behavior that is of interest to me.
Q5. What degree did you pursue to be in this field?
A. I pursued a degree in sport psychology, followed by masters and Ph.D. in the same field.

It is advisable for such a person to engage him or herself in different sport and recreation activities within the industry. If possible, he or she should have one-on-one interviews with athletes and other sportspersons in order to gain early experience in dealing with the science of mental life in sports.
Q8. Where do you see your field in the next 10 years?
A. Over the course of time success is very different; although sport psychology has not been recognized customarily as a field in psychology. My perception is that in the next ten years sport psychology would have been fully integrated into mainstream psychology.
Q9. Are there any career advancements in your profession, what are they?
A. Yes there are career advancements, and they include sport and exercise science. Sport and exercise science is a multidisciplinary field that draws on knowledge from the broader parent disciplines, the subareas that make up sport and exercise science also draw on measures, constructs and concepts from each other. In fact, it is suggested that sport psychology should include knowledge from other sub-disciplines within sport and exercise science in order to gain better understanding of situations specific to
