Should school uniforms be mandatory for students to wear? Do they have a negative impact on students or a positive impact? They are a lot of disagreements on whether or not school uniforms should be mandatory for students to wear. Some people believe school uniforms help improve school safety and students achievement, but others think differently. People on the other side of the argument see uniforms as a violation of students right to freedom of expression and believe they are just far more expensive than civilian clothes. Anytime the question "should school uniforms be mandatory" is asked, there are equal number of folks on each side ready with ammunition. I remember spending a whole night picking out the outfit I was going to wear to school the next morning. I wanted my classmates to see me at my best. I wanted to impress, and so did every other student. This was the only time we were able to see each other outside of school uniforms. But of course there were kids who were spoiled and got what they wanted and there were kids who parents couldn 't afford to buy them what they desired to wear. So when the "dress down day" came, other kids were able to see what kind of parents/ house hold kids came from. This wasn 't good, that was when the bullying and name calling began. When students seen that their classmates weren 't dressed up to date with the trend and weren 't looking as nice as others, they started to pick on those individuals. These studies have shown that wearing uniforms make students more focused as it takes away the notice that one’s wardrobe generally gets. This has resulted in students performing better at academics in these schools that were being tested. If students test grades, attendance and attitudes are better at schools with the dress code policy than the ones who don 't, then that means uniforms are very affective and should be considered in all schools. These were a couple of situations in which helped support this side of the argument that agrees with school uniforms being mandatory.
