Did you know 652,639 legal abortions occur each year? After the Roe Vs. Wade trail in the 1900’s more abortions have been made than adoptions, this is limiting the number of babies that are being able to be brought to happy families that can’t have kids. This makes me believe that abortion should be illegal because it is just another form of murder and it could have psychological effects on the woman carrying the child. One of the main reasons why abortions should be illegal is because its like another form of murder. For example; In some states like Indiana if you kill a pregnant women you go to prison for two murder cases. It then makes no sense then if you can go get an abortion and kill an innocent child born or not and not get in any trouble. Also when the baby is first conceived if it be planned or not it has a heartbeat so it is alive so when you when you have an abortion you're hurting the baby and killing it while is inside of you instead of you letting it grow and letting it go to a happy family that would love and take care of the baby. …show more content…
According to James C. Coyne ,Ph.D ,"Women who have had an abortion have an 81 percent higher risk of subsequent mental health problems compared to women who have not had an abortion.” This proves that not only abortion kills the baby and prevents it from having the opportunity from living its life that god entitled it to, but it also leaves affects on the mother too. The ages that abortions are most common are ages 14 to 44 years old, and for every 1000 live births there are 186 abortions. Since 1973 there have been 58 million abortions, which then leads to a huge decrease of children able to be
Abortion is a major debate in society today and has been an impassioned topic for decades. At issue is whether or not abortion should be permissible. Generally I support the idea of abortion given specific circumstances. If a woman becomes pregnant due to rape, she has no moral obligation to carry the baby to full term. It is a gross expectation for society to think a woman should give birth to a baby conceived from rape and to take care of the child as her own. In this discussion I will argue that abortion is permissible if the mother was a victim of rape.
The article “Abortion Harms Women” suggests supporters of legalized abortion downplay the health and mental risks associated with abortion. Research has indicated there is short and long-term physical and mental harm related to abortion (“Abortion Harms Women”). Abortion can cause many physical complications for the women, such as infections, excessive bleeding, and blood clots. They can even be life-threatening in some cases. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer points out abortion is surprisingly the fifth leading cause of death maternally in the United States. There are certain complications, including infection, hemorrhage, pulmonary embolism (blood clot), and complications from anesthetics that are responsible for a woman’s death (“Abortion Harms Women”). Also, there is a greater risk of mortality the further along a woman is when she has an abortion. Along with the physical risks associated with abortion, there are the psychological risks. Abortion can cause women to feel ashamed or guilty, resulting in an increase in emotional pain. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer explains many emotional problems that can affect women after an abortion. Some women experience an increase in the use of alcohol and drugs. Studies have shown that 34% of women are at a greater risk for anxiety and depression. Also, there is a 60% increase for women to

The state can not interfere with a women’s right to control her own body, as this would be interfering with her own basic rights to equal freedom and liberty. Abortion laws are unconstitutional as they take away a women’s basic autonomy through allowing for state interference in personal, bodily decision-making. Justice is only obtained when women have the right to their own body, and their own choices. John Rawls defined justice in two principles. First, that each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive scheme of equal basic liberties compatible with a similar scheme of liberties for others; and second, that social and economic inequalities are to be arranged so that they are both reasonably expected to be to everyone’s advantage, and so that they are to be attached to positions and offices open to all. Madam Justice Wilson is known to have taken a strong stand with judgment founded directly on the value of autonomy. Wilson believes that an aspect of the respect for human dignity is the right to “make fundamental personal decisions without interference from the state. ” Women’s liberty is denied through laws that interfere with these decisions; she is not free within society from restrictions imposed by the state’s political views. Drawing on Rawls’ theory of justice and Justice Wilson’s view on the value of autonomy as justice, it will be proven that abortion laws are unjust as they go against a women’s basic right to liberty, autonomy, and security of person The argument of whether or not a woman should have an abortion is not the focus in this paper, but rather the focus is on whether abortion laws restrict a woman’s right to justice or not.
Abortion is the process of removing the unwanted contents of conception, which will develop into a human being, from a mother’s body. It has been a controversial topic for years and undoubtedly will continue as one until the end of time, with valid arguments being made from members on both sides of the isle. Many of the argument and issues pointed out are ethical, scientific, and moral in nature. When do these contents of conception actually become a person? Should abortion remain legal? If made illegal will women’s health suffer as back alley abortions are performed? These are some of the many questions that are asked when the topic of abortion is discussed. For the time being abortions are legal since the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision legalized it. This law is in direct opposition of many health care workers and nurses’ personal moral and ethical beliefs, therefore, we as nurses must examine our own surrounding and beliefs while at the same time being aware that proper care must be provided to all patients. In situations where moral obligations are tested, the professional nurse will remain free of stereotyping or segregating and will either dismiss themselves from care of these patients or will be nonjudgmental and provide the best possible care.
What are rights? Rights are a freedom to express yourself, a freedom to worship as you wish, a right to prompt fair trial by jury, a right to vote in elections for public officials, a right to apply for a federal employment requiring a United States citizenship, a right to run for a elective office, and most of all a right to protest and fight for what you believe in. Is it fair to be told “ No you can’t do that” when you believe what your doing is the right thing to do. No its not fair! that is why i have picked abortion rights. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy so that it does not result in birth. I strongly believe that abortion is wrong no matter the circumstance, but everyone has a different opinion.
Many may argue this topic of abortion and both have strong evidence on each side of the argument to say why they are correct and why you should agree with them; some people feel that teens should be allowed while others may disagree. This paper will focus on why teens should not be allowed to have abortions and the effects of it.
Abortion by definition means the way of ending pregnancy by removing fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is an extremely debatable issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. Abortion decision is like killing own child or killing an innocent human life before coming out from uterus. I will explain how a human life is being destroyed, the process in which they destroy the fetus, and how to avoid this situation all together I believe that abortion is morally impermissible.
Abortion, “the ending of a pregnancy before the fetus can live independently outside the mother,” (Brown par. 1) has been practiced since ancient times. With records dating back to the “ancient Egyptians, Grecians, and Romans,” (History of Abortion par. 1) it’s no question that abortion techniques have been used throughout the ages as an effective form of birth control. Pregnancies were once terminated through a number of methods, including the use of sharpened instruments, herbs, manipulation, and other techniques. (History of Abortion par. 1)
In addition, one analysis, in relation to abortion problems, states, “from 1988 to 1997 found the risk of death increased by 38% for each additional week of gestation, during the pregnancy.” (Jones). “Such studies rely on information from many countries and include legally mandated registers hospital administrative data,” so current research affirms that an induced abortion increase the risk of different physical consequences, such as breast cancer, placenta previa, and maternal suicide. (Bachiochi). Late term abortion not only affects the mother’s condition physically, but also psychologically. Although not all women respond in the same way, some of them develop diverse mental disorders leading to suicide after they received an abortion. Studies in Canadian newspapers show “a suicide rate of 34.9 per 1000” from women who experimented an abortion, in contrast to “a suicide rate of 5.9 per 1000” from women who gave birth to their babies. The same newspapers report “a rate of 5.2 per thousand hospitalizations for psychiatric
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus before viability (dictionary.com). Those who disagree with abortion think that this is not right, mid evil and a form of murder. All of those thoughts are correct; abortion is the act of removing a fetus from the protection of the mother’s uterus. However, is it not the duty of the mother to protect her unborn child? In this day in age, we are still allowing this barbaric method of ending a pregnancy to happen despite the many alternatives. If an unexpected pregnancy should occur, abortion should not the only option. There are many reasons why abortion should not be illegal in all parts of the world, and people need to know the options available. Adoption is certainly a strong option in a world wanting for children. Abortion is not a method of birth control and people need to be educated on pregnancy prevention and take on some responsibilities.
I believe that abortion should be banned. I strongly feel that pregnant women who want to abort their child/fetus should not be allowed to. For one, should one person alone be allowed to control the fate of another? Technically, abortion is murder, since the baby is being killed purposely. Some say that in the early days or weeks of pregnancy (maybe even in the first couple months) the baby is in fact not alive; it is just a bunch of cells. However, the fetus is breathing, and obtaining nutrients from the mother before she even knows that she is pregnant. Within no time, the fetus also has human characteristics: a head, hands, legs, arms, feet, and a torso. Thus, abortion should be legalized only when murder becomes legal, because abortion is murder.
Many people have given their opinions and facts to support that abortion should be illegal. Some facts and opinions stated by people about why abortion should be illegal is that, that person are ending a human being’s life, the child doesn’t have a choice in whether they live or not, and that adoption is another option. When women have abortions, they are killing another human being, not giving the child a choice in living a life, and that why kill the child when you can easily give the baby up for adoption. According to
First, I feel that abortion should be illegal because it can result in medical complications and also psychological trauma. It can cause premature birth and could also cause a baby to be handicapped in future pregnancies. A woman who has had an abortion is 2.3 times more likely to get cervical, ovarian, and or liver cancer. Abortion is the cause of 47,000 woman’s death yearly. It can cause depression for at
