Abortion The topic of Abortion is one of the most controversial of our times. It has caused countless deaths and several violent confrontations between the two separate parties of opinion. The fight between pro-life and pro-choice supporters has been long and brutal. This is because, despite what several people may believe, abortion is neither right nor wrong. It is a matter of personal opinion and it varies from person to person. In this way, each side can say with certainty that the other side is wrong. Therefore, the question remains; should abortion be legal? Though some may disagree on this point, the fact that legalizing abortion is the only option that will protect the lives of American citizens. This is all because of the difference in opinion of the pro-life and pro-choice activists. Pro-life activists carry a very strong argument, and continue to push their beliefs. They feel so strongly about these beliefs that violence has broken out in some known instances. They present an argument that from the moment of conception, the embryo or fetus is alive. This life imposes on us a moral obligation to preserve it and that abortion is tantamount to murder (Kolner 5). Pro-choice activists on the other hand, also carry very strong points. They believe that the child inside the women is her own property and the state has no right to interfere. In 1973, the United States Supreme Court decided that as long as the baby lived inside the womb, he or she would be the property of the mother, because of this decision almost every third baby conceived in America is killed by abortion, over one half million babies a year (Willke 7). Abortion is the choice of a woman whether or not she want’s to receive one. Under the 14th Amendment’s “personal liberty” women are given the right to receive an abortion. The 14th Amendment’s concept of “personal liberty” and restrictions on state action is enough to allow a woman’s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. The right to choose to have an abortion is so personal and essential to a woman’s life that without this right a woman cannot exercise other fundamental rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution (Paltrow 72). The state cannot interfere in the private lives of a citizen. Without the right to choose an abortion the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of liberty has little meaning for women. With the righ...
Abortions have been a much known topic for the century in the United States. It is a topic that has been debated on whether or not it should be illegal. Some people think that to have an abortion is a sin. Some think that women who abort children are evil, and are murderers. Often they do not understand the reason on why babies are aborted. It requires our immediate attention because each day and year, there are many children that are aborted and less babies that are able for adoption. Soon to be mothers are often affected by this problem. Abortions should be outlawed all together. There needs to be a solution to this problem.
One of the most debated subjects throughout the world is abortion. Abortion is the premature termination of pregnancy by spontaneous or induced expulsion of a nonviable fetus from the uterus (Dictionary). In certain circumstances, abortion could be beneficial for the mother with factors such as: age, rape, financial stability, and complications that could long-term harm the potential mother and child. Women of all ages are entitled to their right to abort regardless of how morally right or wrong it may be. Some people believe abortion goes against their religious and cultural backgrounds. However, other people believe because it is the woman’s body they should be liable to do as they please. Whatever the situation
Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (“About Abortion”). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and this issue should be taken seriously. The individual woman needs to understand that by agreeing to have an abortion she is agreeing to kill an innocent fetus. Abortion rips the unborn child from his or hers right to life. Society needs to let women see through the eyes of the fetus and find alternative ways to raise the baby. Abortion should be illegal because childhood begins at conception, not at birth.
Many people who don’t know much about abortion don’t know how truly horrifying and serious it is. There are many small details about the baby that could change a woman’s mind in an instant on whether or not they think abortion is the way to go. Women usually don’t realize how it works or what exactly is happening to the baby. They usually think to themselves that it isn’t really a baby or a human form yet, but they are wrong. The baby has already developed fingers, eyelids, a brain, knees, and many other human features by just only seven weeks into the pregnancy (What your baby). Unborn developing babies are much more “human” tha...
Over thirty million innocent lives have been terminated since abortion became legal (How Many Abortions Performed Since 1973, 2000). For the past forty-three years since Roe V. Wade made abortions legal. Abortion has been a controversial topic on why abortion is unethical in depriving an innocent life a chance of living. Although most people are prochoice and for abortion, society needs to know the reasons why it unethical. For each life that has been terminated since, abortion became legal it one less life that could have had a chance to be somebody like a doctor, nurse, teacher, maybe even a president. Abortion should be illegal because of the physical risks to the woman, the fetus is a human life and it is unethical to kill a fetus.
Throughout history, abortion has been one of the most controversial topic that researchers and the public never seem to come together on terms of morality and legality. The topic brings up many questions, for example: Is abortion morally justifiable? Does the fetus have any legal rights? Is the fetus a human person? What is considered a person? The legality side of abortion can depend on many factors, such as incest, rape, fetal defects, a high risk of disability, socioeconomic factors or the mother's health being at risk. The morality side of abortion are those who are against abortion because that fetus is a human with the right to life and compare abortion to homicide, while there are those who advocate abortion rights because it is a woman's right to decide about matters concerning her own body.
One of the most controversial issues surrounding American politics is the issue of abortion. Abortion is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as, “The termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The proponents believe that abortion is a fundamental right of all women since she has a right to control her own body. However, the opponents believe the termination of a pregnancy is murder because of the fact the embryo or fetus is an alive unborn human being who deserves equal rights to his or her mother and should be granted the right to life. Nevertheless, the proponents believe that abortion is not murder since a fetus in not a living child so it does not deserve equal rights to its mother. Although a woman deserves a right to control her body, she should never have the right to bring to an end the life an unborn living child within her.
Abortion has become the common focus of diverse and influential debate in various societies, especially the U.S. One of the most confrontational topics argued is whether or not abortion is morally ethical. More than forty percent of all women will terminate their pregnancy by abortion at some point in their reproductive lives (Stacey OL). In spite of disagreement by many people, abortion is one of the most widespread medical procedures performed in the United States every single year. Eventhough abortion is opposed by many people, it should stay legal, because it is the right of a women to control herself or her body (Swomley, 1991).
The idea of whether abortion should be illegal or allowed is a controversial one since everyone seems to have different ideologies. Judith Thomson, who is in support of pro-choice argues in her article “A Defense of Abortion” main idea towards abortion is stating women should have the right to choose because they have the moral right to decide whether they have to hold life in their body. This idea is presented from her first analogy using the violinist who has a failing kidney and will perish if he does not have someone give him blood immediately. They take you without your permission and plug you into him. She connects this to the idea of the fetus by saying everyone has the right to life and if the fetus is considered a person then it would be wrong to kill an innocent human being, but then says that if the child is harming you then you should not wait until you are dead, he body is the home of the women so she should be allowed to defend herself against
Abortion is not as harmful as its opponents claim it to be. Instead of viewing abortion as "murder," society as a whole must consider abortion as a necessary alternative. Abortion can save a woman's life, physically, mentally, and emotionally. In today's society, the following reasons clearly impact the abortion dilemma. First, the definition of "life" the anti-abortionists provide us with is self-contradictory. Second, abortions are safer than ever in the past. Third, abortions help society avoid the challenges caused by unwanted children. Fourth, abortions benefit the mother's emotional life. Finally, abortion has its consent from the Bible. Therefore, abortion in the United States of America should remain legal.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics for centuries. In medical terms abortion means terminating the human pregnancy buy expulsion from the uterus before birth. Abortion is just another name of killing an unborn child who still has a life ahead. For several years a mother has to take the decision of killing her own unborn baby for many said and unsaid reasons. The unborn child is not even safe in the safest place of the world its mother’s womb. Although today in many countries abortion is legalized but according to me it should be illegalized.
From 1973 through 2011, nearly 53 million legal abortions occurred. (Induced Abortion in the United States). Abortions are unethical, it’s a form of murder and a violation to human rights and the right to live. Supporters of abortion would argue that women can do whatever they want to do with their bodies, but when a woman is pregnant her body is not hers alone; she is carrying another person on inside of her. I disagree that we as humans should have the right to end an unborn baby’s life regardless of the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy.
Abortion has been a controversial topic for the past century and still is. Unwanted pregnancies have been a tremendous problem in today's society. Transforming Men and Women's lives in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, abortion has generated intense controversy; some feel strongly that abortion is morally wrong; while the other firmly advocate the rights of women in this regard. Abortion should be illegal because it's an act of murder; it is against religious beliefs; and it is other ways to deal with unwanted pregnancies.
