I’m going to be bluntly honest with you, I am not a great writer. There isn’t any point in sugar coating the truth, especially since my writing abilities are being tested just in writing this paper. While it is obvious I am not the author of a bestselling novel that is ok because I am a business major who is pursuing a career in technology. This year has helped me achieve a better understanding of my style of writing and how I can use that for future employment. The focus of this essay is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of my writing abilities and how that is applicable to my major. At the very beginning of the year I was pretty un-experienced in reflective writing so there was much room for improvement. Through observations throughout my years as a high schooler, I noticed one key factor in all of my English and writing classes, and as you might expect, it was that every teacher is different in their grading and teaching style. For me this meant every year testing the waters for the course to see how to focus my writing. The first aspect of my writing that I want to address is my organization. I wanted to report on this section of my writing first, primarily because it was one of the best areas of my writing. Looking at both the essay and the rubric it is easy to see the improvement from major paper 1 to major paper 3. The shift in tone and perspective in which I wrote my papers was the most apparent reason for my improvement.
