I am currently majoring in Finance at Carlson School of Management, and I have decided to explore the career and future growth of a financial analyst. I chose to explore this career because some of my cousins work in this field and I’m interested in numbers and analysis. I also have an interest in following the stock market and working in a stimulating environment. What sets me apart from others is that I’m able to use time management efficiently. I’m able to study and complete major assignments while still finding plenty of time to socialize with others. Having taken StrengthsQuest last year, I learned that I strive for the future, I’m often positive, and I’m a believer in harmony. I believe in consistency, the idea that all people should …show more content…
They have to be punctual and have the ability to put in long hours every once in a while. Based on the information that I have researched, I can say that being a financial analyst wouldn’t be a bad fit for me. I have always had a knack for problem solving, especially during mathematical situations. I do slightly lean towards being a team member compared with being independent, and it could pose a bit of a problem if I do undergo this career. Like most people in business, financial analysts do spend some time traveling, and I definitely wouldn’t mind doing so. Financial analysts aren’t the only ones involved in financial and investment services; stockbrokers are also involved and are responsible for selling stock and other securities to others and conducting trades . The career is similar, but workers there put more focus on the stock market because they have to interpret it well in order to conduct trade deals. I do have some interest in following the stock market, so this career option wouldn’t be so bad for me. Being a budget analyst is another option related to finance. People in this profession are responsible for organizing budget reports for companies . One concern for the profession, however, is the national growth rate for the next decade. It is at 3%, slower than the average occupational growth rate of 7%, and much slower than 12% growth rate for financial analysts. Financial analysts could eventually be promoted to financial managers and have even more responsibility for managing a company’s finances. As of 2015, the median salary for this profession is $117,900
I want to be a Bank of America Student Leader because I wish to be able to experience new opportunities for volunteering and interact with others who shares the same interests. This opportunity would also allow me to learn more about leadership skills so that I will be a better leader in the future to make improvements for the community. Even though I lack many traits, I am willing to learn from criticisms and I am open minded to others’ opinions. Born talented or not, I believe that the desire to learn is the most important characteristic that a person can possess and I am willing to learn from this opportunity if I am lucky enough to receive it. Being a Vietnamese immigrant who is living in a large Vietnamese community in Garden Grove, I
Personal Financial Advisors work behind the scenes with every type of person. They are the people who know how money works, and can tell you the best way to spend yours. They make investments on stocks or bonds, they plan for your retirement or children's college education. Financial advisors are aware of different opportunities and investment plans and they have the means to put your money where it can earn the largest return. A vast majority of people invest money, and more often than not there is a financial advisor by their side. This means that I could find a job as a financial advisor anywhere in the United States and in most other places around the world as well. Of course, it fits to reason that the people directing the world's money
...n will also be very necessary and last it requires looking at a lot of charts and graphs. All of my questions got answered while doing this research which is great. While doing this research though, it sparked a new question in my mind. This question is what is the average work week for a financial advisor? My thoughts on this career have definitely changes after doing research into this career. I only kind of wanted to do this job but, when I was done doing the research I really want to go into this career field it is bizarre or fantastic. Now that I have information from researching I am going to be putting guidelines together for success. The next steps are for me to start taking classes in high school that will go with this career. Then, after high school I will go straight into college to study for my major in finance but, for now I am embryonic or undeveloped.
According to my Career Leader report, I have been career matched to be in Financial Planning and Stock Brokerage. I think that this career match speaks highly of me because one of my career options is to hopefully become a Financial Advisor. Ever since I took a consumer education course in high school, I have become interested in personal finance. I loved everything that had to do with budgeting money, retirement accounts, stocks, etc. I learned so much in this class that I never knew I can about personal finance. It was something that got me interested and I knew that I want to be around people as a career. I think that a Financial Advisor will suit me because I want to help people with their financial needs. I want to be a mentor or advocate in helping them choose a house, create a college fund, and save for retirement. I want to be with them every step of the way, so they know that they are not alone.
Members of the Committee, I would like to start by thanking you for taking the time to review my application. I have lived a career path that is unique to say the least. After graduating with my culinary degree I worked in several kitchens learning what it is to be a subordinate. After a little over 2 years, the economy was tanking, and the restaurants I worked for continued to fail or struggle. I decided I needed a career change. I joined the Navy as a Deep Sea Diver. Over the Past seven years I have quickly moved up the ranks, and now I am in a position of major authority.
Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment.
Throughout my life, I have heard that having a degree is having an expensive piece of paper. Actually listening to these words, to me, its saying they have the literary knowledge of a specific field; and that is much more than an expensive piece of paper. My motivation comes from every situation I have been through, struggling to realize that I do want a degree. As of now, my job title is an accounting clerk, I did happen to stumble into this career, I would be lying if I said otherwise. Being in this position for almost three years has helped me grow professionally and personally. I did not have any background in the accounting department, so every day I learn something new, because every day I am intrigued on how the accounting system works.
I am 19 years old and have lived in Red Bluff all my life. I am currently working at Raley's where I will have been working for three years this May. I am a very motivated, and kind individual. I am driven, and passionate about things I am truly interested and invested in. Some of those things include school, reading, and my personal health. In my junior year of high school, I took a class through the Young Scholars program and got three units of college credit. Then the next year, my senior year, I participated in the College Connection program which was the 16-17 school year. After finishing the program, I received a total of twenty college credits. I then decided to take a total of seven units that following summer. I am now on track
What I discovered about myself, is that I have a personality type of a “protagonist”. The “Protagonist” basically describes myself adequately, as they find it easy to communicate with others, natural born leaders, and are full of charisma. All of those characteristics tie in to the type of skill and job that I soon want to be possessed in. That job and skill lies in the Marketing field. My attraction draws to this specific job because I am an outgoing person, persuasive, and use my creativity to the best of my ability. I have always questioned the things people do, such as “Why do people purchase they things they do?” and “What inspires and influence consumer purchase behaviors?”. All of this falls under Marketing, which plan programs to generate
Becoming a financial analyst will allow me to enjoy a career in the finance field that pays well and also offers ample opportunities. The position of a financial analyst is growing very fast and so there are more opportunities for me to become a financial analyst. Being a financial analyst will not only put me in a powerful position within the organization but it will also teach me skills that I need about investing for my own financial life. Some of the qualifications for the career that I already have include a bachelor’s degree in finance, technology experience (Microsoft word, Microsoft outlook), skills such as maximization of work practices, and quality vigilance. One qualification that I need for this position is the ability to turn data into information. Since this position requires past experience and I have none, I can undergo training so that I can be at par with the job functions and requirements. Despite the fast growth of the job, though, there is stiff competition and even though I will most likely get this job with my bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree will help me stand out among my competitors and it will also be a wise investment for me since I have my eyes on a financial management position at one point in
Each person has a different idea of what it means to be successful. After talking to my family and some friends, I know that I have several strengths and weaknesses. I know that I will face some opportunities and threats. Also, I know that I will have competitors. In this competitive business world, understanding what is truly valuable to me is a major step towards achieving my goal. My strengths are my languages, technology skills, education, work ethic and the ability to follow directions. My weaknesses are communication skill, lack of U.S culture and working experience. Increasing job demand, globalization and accountant role expanding are three major opportunities in accounting field. Information technology, uncertainty of recession and starting salary are 3 major threats to my financial success. I will face all the accounting major competitors from the Midwest.
As an undergraduate who studies accounting and finance. I started to learn about accounting and finance since 2013 when I was in A-level. At that time, we have been asking to present business news in each economic class. It has motives me to gathering finical information from The Economist and BBC The world business News report. The experiences of working as an intern at the Bank of HEBEI in 2013 and PWC in 2016 have encouraged me to become a professional accountant. All these had given me a great opportunity to know accounting and finance comprehensively and also reinforce my determination of continue studying accounting and finance. Therefore, I have decided to apply for your postgraduate degree course to further
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).
Personality traits can be manifested as strengths or weaknesses depending on the situation, and personality tests can help individuals maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses within the organizational structure. Organizational behavior is critical to organizational effectiveness, and these tests can also point individuals toward certain careers or organizations that are good fits. Pearson Education’s MyManagementLab (2016) contains a series of personality tests and the following discussion analyzes the results of these tests as they apply to my personality and my career. The writing contains illustrations of my personality traits in action. The text also highlights areas of improvement that will enable me to be a better employee, co-worker,
