Starting community college I was unsure what I wanted to major in, especially since in my immediate family background no one has ever gone to college so I was never encouraged to think of a future in my education. Taking course in college like criminal justice, psychology and sociology it opened my mind about the many possibilities of career choices that are out there in each field. When I took my first sociology class it impacted me the most out of the entire pervious course. It opened my mind to the world we live in, I saw a different perspective. Sociology is my calling, yet I have not had any experience in the field, but I am very excited to start volunteering next semester to get more involved and a hand on experience. Not only did it show my patience through this process, but also my independence as an individual. It all started when I found a workshop that were helping people fill out the application for free, I was determined to drive fifty miles to attended so I did. I saved up the six hundred dollars by working and recycling bottles to be able to pay for all the application fees and I was ready to send my application out. It took months to wait if I would be able to take my interview as the final test I had to pass in order to get my citizenship. I studied all the history questions that they were going to ask to be prepared. Getting the letter in the mail of my appointment date was one of the best feelings in the world, going to my interview with immigration and having my hand shock by the interviewer saying congratulation felt as if I was a changed person. Stepping out of the building I was so happy filled with joy that it felt so surreal and unbelievable that this long process was finally over once I went to the ceremony. Through the process I realized that I was unstoppable going to college was never an option and now I am at this point in my life where I am able to transfer and go my expectations which makes me move towards bigger goal of being the first to graduate from
