There are few speeches in the American history that compel us towards great acts of patriotism. Patrick Henry's speech in the Virginia Provincial Convention of 1775 is a prime example of one of these great speeches. During the debates on whether or not to compromise with Great Britain, Patrick Henry proposed the idea to his fellow members of the First Continental Congress to declare war on Great Britain. A reason why the speech was so powerful was the rhetorical strategies of the diction of slavery, the appeal to God, and the appeal to logic, that he deftly employed.

A group of men known as the Founding Fathers, which included George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John and Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and others, formed the Continental Congress to rule their new nation. They chose Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence, which they would send to King George III to make their independence official. Jefferson knew that he needed to use strong language to make a solid agrument against British rule in the colonies and to convince the colonists that independence was the only choice to maintain their freedom as human beings. The powerful use of parallelism, ethos, pathos, and logos helpd Thomas Jefferson to convey his idea that all men are created equal with unalienable rights and that it is the duty of the government to protect those rights.
The Sons of Liberty were somewhat heroes too. They did help the Revolutionary War start. Without the Revolutionary War, America might still be under rule of Britain. Also, they believed in liberty and democracy. Liberty and democracy is what America is run on. However, the Sons of Liberty were still fanatics. Although the Sons of Liberty helped start the Revolutionary War, it hurt America. Americans were not ready or equipped to fight and after the war, Americans struggled with economics and government for a little while. Also, the Sons of Liberty didn’t come up with liberty and democracy themselves, the whole nation agreed to it. There are some downsides also to having a democracy, the people can pick the wrong person suited for the job because of popularity or age, not facts or what could help their country out. Therefore, the Sons of Liberty were more of fanatics than heroes.
Regardless of whether the Era of Good Feelings was accurately labeled or not, it indeed built a foundation for America to fulfill its future triumphs and potential.

When we think about the great heroes of American history, those who caused great change are usually the first to come to mind. The great American heros are those who fight for change, even if it’s against social norms, to change the lives of people for the better. Heros are those who inspires others and puts others before themselves. Heros do not allow success to change them and never stops working for their goals. They do not allow other people, fear, or failure to stop nor slow them down. And in some cases, a hero will make the ultimate sacrifice for what they believe is right. The greatest heroes in American history remain to live on in the memories and the thoughts of the people whose lives were forever changed by these people and the impact they had on our nation.
Every person has an American Dream they want to pursue, achieve and live. Many people write down goals for themselves in order to get to their dream. Those never ending goals can range from academic to personal. As of today, I am living my dream. My American Dream is to become a nurse, travel to many places, have a family, and get more involved with God.
In the making of the United States of America, many wars have taken place to provide the freedom the country has today. Two important wars include The American Revolution and the American Civil War. Within these wars were many people who fought that are rarely mentioned today, and some were not even recognized during or shortly after the war. Patriotism begins with knowing some historic background of one’s country. The following is a short intro to pass through the timeline of USA’s history. Most Americans have heard that Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. He came to what is now America. Several years pass and George Washington becomes the first president. This is when the constitution is ratified. The constitution declares our freedoms as American citizens. States begin to form, such as Vermont and Kentucky. They were the first two states to be admitted to the United States. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had the presidential terms in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
