My Writing History Have you ever thought about your writing history? I know I have. Writing is essential for everything that we do, like work, school, communication, etc.Humans needs to be able to write so they can communicate effectively. Everyone starts in kindergarten learning the alphabet, then they go to writing simple sentences, then complex. After that, they go to junior high and get into writing essays, then they get into high school and they start writing longer and more in depth essays. By the end of high school, they should write on a college level. My writing history was extremely similar to that. My mom prepared me to write when I was very young. It was the first time I had to write an argument essay but again, my teacher made it very simple for us to understand. She taught us how to write a claim, a counterclaim, how to present evidence in a clear way, and how to prove the evidence with warrants. Basically everything you need for an argument essay. She taught me a lot about word choice and grammar, but the thing I remember the most was she taught me how to make my sentences flow. Before then I had really choppy sentences and I had a really hard time putting them together, but she made it very easy. My second artifact from my writing history is an essay that I wrote for the same teacher but this one was supposed to entertain. I hadn’t written something that was supposed to entertain my audience since Mighty Authors and it was really hard for me. Luckily, we did peer reviews, I got a lot of feedback and I grew a lot from that essay. I learned how to make people laugh and how to show my personality in an essay. The third artifact from my writing history is an essay that I wrote for my eleventh grade english class and it was my first essay that I think is on college level. It was a narrative about a story from my childhood and it was meant to entertain my audience. I believe I did a really good job on it. I had good flow in my sentences, it was clear and concise, I had no spelling or grammar mistakes, and I think overall, the essay fulfilled its purpose to entertain.
