Following this certification I plan to apply within the hospital I currently work in. Maybe with 15 years laboratory experience in addition to BSHS and certification I can land a management position. If that happens great I will work in that position and go on for my Masters in genetic counseling. If I do not land a management position I will be happy with an MT position and still pursue my Masters. I feel KU Career Services will be very helpful for me in obtaining my career. They have the experience, knowledge and connections to help aid in finding the right position for me. I have always been fascinated with the medical field ever since I was little, my first choice for electives were always health science and anatomy classes. After my cousin, Deanna, had her first child and receive her first ultrasound, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The ultrasound technician had made her feel so comforted and just made the entire experience enjoyable for everyone; I’m eager to be able to start my life with a job that I know I will love. Anytime that I meet someone who is in the field themselves, I always ask questions and listen to what they do throughout the day to get some real insight on what being a technician really entails.

As a child growing up with seven of my siblings, we didn’t have every and anything. We seen a lot of things that couldn’t be changed like a person who lost their legs or somebody with unhealthy teeth. Next, you must have a four years of medical school, five years in a residential training of clinic pathology and anatomical, and one year in forensic pathology training(www.learningpath.org). I comprehend this career is lots of schooling years, but it will be worth it at the end. Along the way I will get to learn new about my career and get a bit closer to my

A pathologist is a doctor who studies disease. They work in laboratories and they examine tissues and other samples in order to diagnose diseases. When they make a diagnosis, they share their findings with the doctor who is in charge of taking care of the patient who has the disease. With challenging diseases and conditions to examine, a pathologist learns something new every day.
They test many types of samples in the lab such as skin or body fluids like blood and urine. Lab techs have the responsibility to not only perform the test but to record the results and get the results where they need to be. Blood tests can indicate many different conditions such as a hormone imbalance or blood type. This is very important because if someone receives a blood type that is not compatible with their own blood, the patient could die. Skin and tissue samples can also lead to a diagnosis. They can run tests to see if a sample reacts to something or doesn’t react to something. This is how the lab tech helps to diagnose.
