PURPOSE OF COMMUNITY DIAGNOSIS
This concept was taken from module 5 “community assessment and diagnosis”, sub topic 3 “community diagnosis”.
Community diagnosis is a process of collecting data about the community in order to identify the different factors that may influence the health of the population and to analyze and seek explanation for the occurrence of health needs and problems of the community.
For any nursing intervention to be carried out on any community, they have to first have a diagnosis for the community. If a wrong diagnosis is made to a community, the interventions that will be given will also be wrong and there will be no change in the problem of the people.
Hence, once a proper diagnosis is made, it is a lead to developing interventions and strategies to solve community problems.
Community diagnosis helps in efficiency of nursing interventions, gives clarification for interventions, it is goal directed, helps in standardization, improves communication and facilitates research and education of the community. Hence the importance of community diagnosis.
SOCIAL CONTEXT: the society are faced with different problems. Most of them in the society do not actually know the causes of ill health and death amongst them. They badly desire to be free from these problems but do not know how to go about it.
They will appreciate anyone who will come into the community and put a stop to all their problems. When health care professionals start making investigations about this problems they are glad to be of help to the health care team.
They are also glad to be involved in finding solutions to their problems.
APPLICATION TO CURRENT JOB: this concept is not applicable to my current job as we are not involved in community diagnosis. We limit our services to diagnosing clients who come into the
