Reflecting upon this term brings about feelings of joy, excitement, and sadness that this term is soon coming to a close. Throughout this paper I summarize my personal learning throughout the semester, clarify two nursing roles I have assumed throughout the same timeframe, reflect upon my experiences throughout the semester, and will bring about experiences that reflect my personal learning and development in becoming a professional registered nurse. Summary By focusing on the extensive understanding of community health nursing and foundational nursing concepts I have been opened up to new perspectives throughout this term. Through concentrating on foundational nursing topics taught in Nursing 285, 287, 288, and 289 I have gained the tools needed to critically reason and examine situations in my life and actively practice and incorporate the knowledge I have learned. Through investigating the CARNA Standards of Nursing Practice (2005) and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics (2008) mentioned in the above section I have learned the great impact and responsibility the role of a Registered Nurse carries. Before this semester I was unaware of the roles a registered nurse assumes in daily practice such as leader and educator, and how much these roles mean in the function of the health care system. Through beginning to take on such roles and understanding the ethics, standards, and many other aspects of nursing, and in specific community health nursing, my thought process has changed from that as an ordinary student to a nursing student who brings the population health approach and upstream thinking into everyday practice. I look forward to bringing these concepts into my further nursing practice and taking on more roles and gaining more skills that will further my development into becoming a registered
