Health Promotional Strategies For promotional programs to be effective, the health promotional programs must be promoted in a manner that reaches the mass general public. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and so forth create highly interactive platforms in which individuals and communities not only to share and voice their opinions and concerns, but could also serves as an outlet for informational distribution pertaining to health promotional programs. Social media compliments existing promotion strategies as the public platforms are becoming increasingly used among the majority of society’s age and ethnic groups. By investing in social media presence, health promotional programs would be capable in utilizing this platform in order to create an impact among individuals and the general community (Ramanadhan, Mendez, Rao, & Viswanath, 2013). Social media alone cannot adequately advocate and make an impact for communities towards active living. As noted by Jackson, Perkins, Khandor, Cordwell, Hamannm & Buasai (2007), “no strategy stands on its own as a clear success –they all need to act in conjunction with each other and certain supporting actions in order to be effective” (p. 82). Health promotional programs cannot be successful unless the program itself allows for a self-evaluation process. The implementation of an evaluation process allows for the assessment on determining how effective the current health promotional program is in achieving the proposed and anticipated end goals for individuals as well as the general community.
