All of the scenarios showed evidence of best practice. All of the scenarios demonstrated what was being done wrong and what could’ve been done to prevent it. After the first scenario about HIPPA violation, the student nurse stated that HIPPA is a federal law and the health care providers need to protect their patient’s confidential information, and if a student and preceptor need to discuss something about their patient, they should discuss it in a private setting. After the second scenario about ineffective communication, the student nurse stated that for effective communication nurses should utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) to communicate a clear message. All of the scenarios showed how nurses’ actions can directly or indirectly affect their patients. By violating HIPPA, we are violating our patients’ privacy and impacting their psychosocial wellbeing. By ineffective communication, we are putting our patients in danger. By doing something that is not within our scope of practice, we are putting our patients in danger and therefore jeopardizing their wellbeing. The last scenario demonstrated that nursing is a very professional job, and as nurses, we are expected to follow uniform policies, and for the safety of our patients, we need to keep our hair tied up and wear minimal jewelry. For this video, the group used references. All of the references that this group used were of good quality. They used N444 Professional Nursing Practicum Preceptor Handbook, Nursing Student Handbook, and Leadership Roles and Management Functions in Nursing Theory and Application. All of the references were listed using the APA format. All of the scenarios were very good, were thought-provoking, and were well acted out. One suggestion I have is that it would have been nice if instead of stating what should have been done, they should have first filmed the wrong way and then the right way to put across the point more
