To get a grasp on writing and reading comprehensively, learning freewriting and marking books is a start. Reading is to understand the material. Adler stated, “You know you have to read “between the lines” to get the most out of anything” (31). Readers have to think more than what they read in order to interpret ideas expressed by authors. They cannot simply glide their eyes over the words and expect to perceive what the text is portraying.
