On May 14th, many “Freedom Riders” were injured due to attacks on Greyhound buses. The busses were on their way to Birmingham, Alabama in hopes of spreading the word of integrated busses. Victims of this attack was transported to the hospital. John F. Kennedy recently has received a telegram reporting the incident. Founder of CORE, James Farmer, stated the Greyhound bus was carrying 7 freedom riders. The fact of Freedom riders on the bus did not stop the mob of 50 white men. Tires were slashed, windows were smashed, tear gas was used, and the bus was set a flame in form of protest.
