External Management In external management, the theory which has been used by Digi is “A victorious army ensures that it will win before going into battle. A defeated army engages in battle first and then looks for victory.”
This theory is explains about a successful company will create a strong and well-planned strategy before it penetrate into the market. This is to ensure that the company will clearly define the purpose of the organization and realistic goals and objectives consistent with the mission. While some of the company will start to penetrate into the market only seek for the strategy. At this time, the work for the organization are not well-plan so will lead the whole company goes into wrong direction. For instance, at ancient time, the general will ensure that their enemy will win only seek for battle, whilst some of the reckless general entered the battle first only seek for the victory. The value of war games in both the private and public sector is more clear to me now. I viewed most of the exercises I participated in as a relative waste of time and energy, which infrequently produces any substantive results. Now however, I see that it was I that made these exercises a waste of time because I did not fully appreciate the value of war gaming. Moreover, had I injected more thoughtful ideas and used these exercises as a learning tool there would have been a better plan for the future.
Reward and recognition has to be promoted for small and large achievements. An effective reward’s program keeps employees engaged, dedicated, and committed to the organization.
"A simple thing such as giving a employee a little reward for outstanding performance for a month or a year could help motivate other employees to want to do better so that they could have the chance to be recognized for their outstanding work.
The culture of appreciating employees for their hard work and achievements by incentives shows how the organization values their employees. Lincoln believed “Status is of great importance in all human relationships. The greatest incentive that money has, usually, is that is it a symbol of success... The resulting status is the real incentive... Money alone can be an incentive to the miser only. There must be complete honesty and understanding between the hourly worker and management if high efficiency is to be obtained”. This shows how harmoniously the labor and management have to work together to produce
That formidable force that makes one believe that one needs what one usually only desires; that mind-set that is really more of an entity that sits on ones shoulder, and relentlessly screams “further, further”; that asset that makes those who are not zealous, jealous... That is ambition.Ambition has been the backbone of every army! Through those great ancient Egyptian wars, through Persia, through Hastings, through Waterloo, through the native American/greedy colonist battles, through the world-wars, through the Balkans, and through every other great conflict that has ever existed but that I am unable to cite, each party was blessed by pure and passionate ambition...ambition to win at whatever cost necessary. Surely only the collective force of ambition found in a battle is liable to cause as much suffering and damage as has been caused by all battles that have ever been lost or won? Even the weakest, most injured warrior who persevered has been touched not by insanity, but by raw ambition, and even the most perturbed and exasperated warlord is supported not by his schemes, but by the ambition to realise them.Ambition is the ultimate wonder of the world! Ambition made all seven of them and more...shouldn’t it be regarded as their veritable (no matter how intangible) superior?

Many theorists (Lynch, 2003, Mintzberg, 1990, Ansoff, 1991) will argue that the two main schools of strategic planning are the prescriptive, also known as intended, and emergent approaches. Both are debated widely about which is the better approach; recognised best by Idenburg (1993). Prescriptive strategies focus on planning; where predictions of the future are made, leading to long term decisions where the main elements of the strategy have been specially planned before being commenced and as stated by Mintzberg, 1990 "Strategy formation should be a controlled, conscious process of thought". The emergent approach relies on the fact that the outcome of the objective is not known; in contradiction to the prescriptive approach it is not a 'controlled, conscious process of thought' and has been described by Downs, et al (2003) as a trial and error process. The importance of strategy within organisations has been discussed as early as the 1950's with ...

Many of Harrah’s employees deemed the goals set by Winn’s current incentive program to be unrealistic; on the other hand, others felt a sense of entitlement for bonuses. In order to motivate the employees, Winn had implemented an incentive pay plan to rewards Harrah’s employees in all of its properties for improving customer service. The company’s purpose for incentive program was to implant a competitive mindset in its employees as well as to show the employees that they are core of the...
Incentive reward engagement offers a win-win situation for the employees and the company. Kelleher believes that incentive is a form of recognition and builds engagement through company’s and employee’s obligations towards a common goal (2014).
