A role model is a person who inspires and encourages us to strive for greatness, live to our fullest potential and see the best in ourselves. For all athletes, coaches are the most influential element of the competitive experience. According to the Sport in America survey coaches are a leading positive influence on today’s youth. Coaches are the type of people in your life that push you to do the best you can. Without a coach, you wouldn’t have positivity, motivation, or encouragement. Coaches have a physical and emotional impact on athletes. There are two types of coaches in the world, teachers, and sport coaches. An effective coach is someone who provides encouragement to and learning opportunities to his or her athletes. There are several areas in which coaches show great role model strength. Such as, sportsmanship, coaches always needs to be in control and conduct themselves with class and dignity. They teach the essentials of being a good sport, that way they don’t get any technicals. Next, appearance, coaches should always be dressed at their best at a game showing their players how much appearance matters at a game. On the subject of this, coaches are the reason players learn, and get better. They are there to help them push them to be the best they can be no matter what it takes. For example, my track coach Mr. Olson, is one of the best guys I know. Not only is he a role model of mine, but he inspires me to become a better runner everyday. At practice he isn’t super pushy to the point where it can be harmful, he’s caring. Athletics is not the most important part of the educational offerings at a school, it is the most visible aspect. Everything coaches do will be easily observed and under constant scrutiny. This makes a coach one of the most important role model accosicated in a child’s life.
